    Pros

People were awesome. Most management was great. Salary was good.

    Cons

Those in sales got away with allot. In the beginning you had a good client you could do nothing else but just renew that client and you were set for the year.
It became a very numbers oriented company and that was its downfall. That and BP.

    Pros

Great company, staff and management team. The organization is filled with super smart and creative people who don't let their intellect and titles get in the way of doing the work that needs to be done to get the company in a better place.

    Cons

No cons. High level of accountability regardless of position. You come to work to work (a good thing).

I worked at Compuware (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Central locatiion. Good parking. Cafeteria, gym, child care on site, but pricey. Staffing situation might allow you to branch out into new areas and develop new skills via autodidactic on the job training.

    Cons

Acquired by Investment firm (Thoma Bravo), split up, downsized, management replaced. Office space squished into crowded noisy "Open Office" (for worker bees). Appears they want to use cost cutting and hyperbolic advertising to increase stock price with an eye toward flipping the company at a profit within a few years. So expect to be overworked and don't expect raises or promotions. Even transfers are not easy to get, if you land in a group with problems, so be careful which group you get into -- you may not be able to get back out except by quitting. Many of the best people have left.. It's important to parrot the company line at meetings and in social media. Voicing any disagreement with anything that comes from up-level can be a problem. Annual vacation is not carried forward year-to-year, and they don't pay for unused vacation when you leave. When terminations take place, the practice is to terminate them without notice -- they like to quote the "at will employment" clause. Terminations can be due to downsizing or to disagreements, but also be careful not to get cancer or any serious or long-running illness: When yoiu lose the job, you lose the company insurance. I knew two cancer victims there, and both were terminated a few months after coming back to work. The company interpretation of Agile involved an excruciating meeting schedule which some people found difficult. Also there were often Friday pep rally meetings and things like that. The frequent meetings combined with the noisy open office seating was disruptive to concentration and hence to intellectual productivity for a number of people. Having said all that, if this is your first job, and you've seen no other model, then it should all seem normal enough.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the free advertising via social media and flip the company again as soon as you can get a good offer. And shouldn't Chris O'Malley consider changing that LinkedIn picture where he's striding in front of a big window on the 14th floor of a building Compuware no longer owns?

    Pros

Diverse and Challenging work that will keep you entertained.
The office was nice and located in a great place.

    Cons

Poor managerial attitude that resonates from the top down. In response to a well thought suggestion on a hot topic at the company, the CEO literally told a concerned employee "You should be grateful to have a job, you ungrateful jacka55". I wish that was a joke, but it is a direct quote.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. You have been bleeding talent for a long time, and it's due to your archaic pto policies and poor treatment of employees. Foster more positive communication.
