    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Con Edison as an intern (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They have a great experience in learning and getting your foot in the door with in the engineering field. There's also a lot of connections within the company so say after you finish your internship and you want to work full-time, it is not that hard to if you don't mind moving to a different location. The salary rate is much better than most companies. Regardless if you are working in the office or the field, you will gain something from it that you may not have done before and it definitely adds to your experience on your resume. They also have great programs after college where you can join them on the management path or the union worker path.

    Cons

Depending on locations, the work environment can vary a lot. Some of the locations are much more relaxed while others are much more serious. This makes the more serious ones feel slightly more intimidating if you start off in one of those areas.

    Advice to Management

There are three ways to get to management, one is if you're already a union employee and go through the TEAM program to become a supervisor/manager. Then there's the GOLD program which is for recently college graduates and then there's the applying from outside into supervisor position.

I worked at Con Edison (Less than a year)

    Pros

Was able to gain a great deal of hands on experience and witness a lot of on-site action. Was also able to learn a great deal about how the company functions during the heat waves of summer.

    Cons

There wasn't a great deal of structure or a clear-cut internship program set up. It was fairly disorganized and there was often times where there was no work to be done.

    Advice to Management

Having a more structured internship program with direction and weekly meetings or check-ins could help future interns contribute more.
