    Cons

no room for advancement seems to be a lot of favoritism and bullying going on daily by coworkers and they ignore complaints by employees regarding bullying by coworkers on daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Leadership is only working for certain favorite employees regardless too much political games.

I worked at Con Edison full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent place to learn about new technology.

    Cons

Very few new employees stay with the company for any extended period of time. Managers and supervisors have made rank by who they know not what they know. Basically, most management/supervisory staff have been with the company for many years and are very territorial and concerned only with nurturing the careers of staff members within their inner circle. If you are within their inner circle expect GREAT performance reviews and pay raises year in and year out regardless of their true on the job performance. And expect mediocre (at best) performance reviews and pay raises if you are not within their inner circle. This culture/mindset was cited internally by the company which to it's credit recognizes the rampant nepotism and cronyism that abounds...Unfortunately, despite the company's best efforts to promote fairness and opportunity to advance for all in the workplace, managers and supervisors find ways to portray staff not within their inner circle as being under performing slackers, which leads to mistrust and staff concerned only with self preservation. Inhibiting new ideas and thinking outside the box. It's unhealthy for staff subjected to this and it's unhealthy for a company desperately seeking to extracate itself from the grasp of rampant nepotism and cronyism.

    Advice to Management

Only through retirement of long term employees will the company begin to realize a work force that genuinely cares about the company, promotes free thinking and provides fairness and opportunity for all staff members.

I have been working at Con Edison part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for if you have no education and the persistence of a mule and don't mind taking crap from management who also have no education and the persistence of a mule.

    Cons

Management isn't very intelligent, rampant nepotism, people who think they are superior humans because of the rampant nepotism, everything is timed (LITERALLY everything even bathroom breaks), smart educated folks most likely won't stay very long.

I have been working at Con Edison part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Medical, Dental, 401k, no sick time,

    Cons

No tuition reimbursement, no stock plan, terrible work hours, unorganized department, Incompetent management

    Advice to Management

Employees are disengaged and retention is low due to hiring measures. Paying people for 25 hours in nyc is unrealistic. Hire more people for full time instead of hiring a number of part timers.Everyone gets 40 hours a week during training for 15 weeks. After you are dropped to 25 hours a week at the latest shift 430-11pm. In order to get full time a position has to be open and that goes based on seniority. Sometimes you can be part time friends or 3 years before getting a full time offer. Plus, to apply for another position the process is a hassle. You have get approval from a person two levels hire like a Sr. specialist if you've been with the company less than two years. For union jobs, your only allowed to apply for up to 2 a year. Policies like that is a why employee engagement and retention is so terrible. Also. The company has terrible work/life balance. No sick time because they do everything through fmla but to be eligible you must have worked at least 1250 hours which is difficult to reach when your hours are so minimal. Managers are unhelpful and are more preoccupied with entertaining each other than helping you. They are more concerned with their own personal problems and think the answer to every question is on the company intranet. In all honesty it is really not a pleasant place to work. Company is very unwilling to bend especially if you have kids. Expect to have no social or home life having this job.

    Pros

Job security because its noone else wants to deal with the bs you have to here

    Cons

Nepotism, Micromanagers, Lifers who don't care/think.

I can't think of anything redeeming here. You can work hard day in and day out and never get promoted. And then some kid, gets a sherpa and makes upper management in 2 years. Nothing makes sense here, union employees yell at management and you cant discipline them.

Noone cooperates. The racism is insane. There are ethnic cliques. It's high school but worse.

    Advice to Management

    Nuke it from orbit
