I have been working at Con Edison full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    It's a secure employer.

    Cons

GOLD program people and engineers have almost unlimited growth potential. The rest do not. Women and minorities have the advantage leaving non engineering males to limited growth.

    Advice to Management

Try to develop more than your GOLD associates into higher positions. Try promoting a person over 50 into a 3 band position.

I worked at Con Edison as an intern

    Pros

Everyone was very understanding of my class schedule during the semesters. Some projects were challenging and rewarding. Overall, it was manageable to fulfill their weekly hour requirements while taking a moderate load of coursework.

    Cons

Some of the work was mundane after several months, but I suppose that is to be expected as an intern.

    Pros

Good company to start of with. Great people to learn from. Steady pay check. No layoffs very few people fired. Benefits at par with other companies.

    Cons

There is a General level of discontent among employees of why few people in the company receive special treatment. There is red tape on decisions with minimal appetite for risk.

    Advice to Management

Reduce red tape, promote calculated risk taking, don't be too dependent on policies , encourage everyone not just the few chosen ones.

I have been working at Con Edison full-time

    Pros

Large company with decent benefits and pay. There are a lot of positions within the company and mobility is easier at the lower ranks.

    Cons

Some inefficiencies exist with some older departments. Management structure doesn't always make sense. They also rotate executives far too frequently.

    Advice to Management

Develop a fair equity system of pat based on experience and qualifications. Also, redesign the interview process to be able to showcase intelligence of candidates, not rehearsing abilities.
