    Pros

Good pay, good benefits... union job is better than management

    Cons

    Management, on call 24/7,

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Con Edison of New York full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Stability, decent pay, good schedule

    Cons

    Slow to change, bureaucracy, boring

    Advice to Management

Take every opportunity to ensure that young employees are happy and willing to grow within the company. At every opportunity, with its policies, the company leaved a sour taste for young employees. Also, the culture needs to adapt to match the current offering of the top companies to work for today.

I worked at Con Edison of New York as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation, very easy assignments, no stress.

    Cons

You don't learn anything there. Even as an engineering aide you sit next to people who are doing secretary work. I am sorry but there were no exceptional people. Nobody to learn from. Everyone was very mediocre. The only thing I learned was office politics.

    Advice to Management

As much as I and other interns appreciate the invitation to meet high level management, it would help the company greatly if you challenge your engineering intern with more then excel spreadsheets. And hire into your GOLD more interns. It's absolutely shocking how many interns who spent their valuable time at your company got passed over by total newbies go just applied online. Ridiculous.

    Pros

Great company, great pay , and very nice people who have been with the company for a long time.

    Cons

Slow to change, which is the case for most large corporations . Alot of politics

I have been working at Con Edison of New York full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pay. Culture is slowly changing for the better, previously there was a lot of nepotism.

    Cons

As in all corporations politics can hinder your career advancement. Union shop so that can breed babies.

I have been working at Con Edison of New York full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to learn and move laterally to new positions. A lot of new things going on in the company, especially with new technology

    Cons

Salary not really competitive. Bonuses and raises are usually disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Rethink the value that your talented IT employees bring to the company.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Con Edison of New York as an intern

    Pros

    -Casual Work Environment
-Low Stress for most of the time, with periods of high stress around meetings
-Managers take long lunches, and plenty leave the office after lunch to go "in the field"
-Work is interesting when not tedious

    Cons

    -Outdated systems
-Job experience isn't too applicable to other jobs (why there are so many lifers)
-Mountains of paperwork and Invoices - system needs a rework - some job sites require barely any paperwork and others require countless hours - it's a joke
-Union job work hours (7am to 3:30am - have fun waking up before 5 every day)
-location specific: you will not be able to find any good food nearby
-if you're an intern, don't expect to be hired unless you make the GOLD program, which is competitive enough as it is
-This probably isn't the place for you if you aren't an engineer, a union guy, or someone who knows people higher up in the company

    Advice to Management

Give something to interns to do besides paperwork, and negotiate contracts so that there doesn't need to be 30 Invoices a week for one project
