Don't think by laying off 80 % of sales it will save the bottom line enough to make the shareholders happy. By now they will have figured out your mistake

I worked at ConAgra Foods Ingredients full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation plan was strong. The invested in facilities to upgrade safety and quality.
Improved customer satisfaction over the time I was there by improving on time and full delivery and becoming flexible.

    Cons

mothership ConAgra was in constant flux and facilitated unneeded change in the divisions.

    Advice to Management

set a course. Plan your work, work your plan.
Get the Ralston purchase integrated and under control.
Be smart regarding lay offs so you do not lose native intelligence in a given division.

I have been working at ConAgra Foods Ingredients full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a very competitive salary, especially straight out of college. Full work load and large amount of responsibility given very early. Lots of opportunity to learn and grow in management styles/practices.

    Cons

Work. Work. Work. My average work week is between 60-75 hours. There is no incentive for working past 40, as I am on salary. No bonuses in the lower career levels. I have zero work/life balance. I am dedicated to working knowing that it'll get better. Could not even think about having this job with a family. You would never see them. Great for young singles who are willing to grind hard to make it to the top. This is just a stepping stone. All of this work will pay off one day.

    Advice to Management

Encourage work/life balance amongst young employees. Add incentives for weekend work. Some sectors under the ConAgra Foods umbrella offer incentives for management on weekends; mine does not. Remember that young employees need a good work/life balance for their mental health and well-being.
