Be wary of "good" reviews. Nobody I speak to in the office agrees with them.

      Pros

-Amazing 401k program, best I've ever seen. -Interesting and recognizable brands -Tuition Reimbursement -My team is great -Opportunity to gain cross functional experience if you seek it out

      Cons

-There is absolutely no culture. You are just another cog in the machine. We receive nothing for the holidays, no holiday party, not even so much as a card from CEO. -Team exceeded prior years goals during COVID, yet still forced to come back to office four days a week despite the request to work remotely. In office nobody speaks to each other (again no culture), you are truly there just so senior leadership can see you in your seat. -Forced to come back four days a week even though c-level leadership lives across the country with no plans of moving. -Claims to value diversity yet doesn't give MLK's Birthday off. Diversity & Inclusion manager left without even a year on the job. -Claims to value change but remote working isn't even a thought in their minds. -Very minimal holidays off, you can expect to work Christmas Eve if you don't use a PTO day -For a foodservice company, there are no "perks" of working at CAG. They very rarely offer free product. Even a small annual stipend to spend on product would increase morale.

      Pros

Most people are nice in Chicago

      Cons

      - completely different cultures between Chicago and Omaha - CEO tries to come off as progressive and collaborative, but in reality he’s an egomaniac who has to get his own way - Most employees worked their tails off during covid and the thanks we are getting is being forced to come back into work bc CEO and co-COO are old school and need to see butts in chairs - employees forced to Come back to work while a large number of sr leaders don’t even live in Chicago - claim that ppl are greatest asset, yet disregard ppl push for remote working -culture where you can’t have differing opinion - constant turnover and CEO doesn’t care. Dumbing down of talent - first line mgrs have no authority to run their teams. -HR is horrible. Mouth piece for CEO - low annual raises and being told we should be grateful for it - succession planning is a joke. Constantly bringing in ppl rather than getting existing employees ready to move up - promotions non existent in certain functions - continue to cut heads on lower levels but promote or hire ppl for VPs. Too many VPs - talk about D&I, yet they don’t promote minority employees. Bring in folks from the outside, which sends the msg internally that the minorities already here aren’t worth anything -CEO’s real personality came out during covid and it’s not flattering - workload is high and will get worse bc ppl are jumping ship

Good work life balance, but not very challenging

Jun 15, 2021 - Associate Brand Manager in Chicago, IL

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Summer fridays Good work life balance -- don't usually schedule meetings before 9am or after 4pm, or during lunch

      Cons

Not flexible during Covid Think a modern workplace is 4 days a week in the office Favorite phrase is "This is how it has always been done" Development plans are up to the individual, rather than led by managers or HR Leaders don't address when people leave, why they left, and what they could do to make the organization/team/role better ABMs do all the work but don't present or receive credit for work Teams work in silos and there is poor communication across teams, which leads to duplicative work Culture is very formal, not really about relationship building and getting to know peers. Every meeting feels like a presentation rather than collaboration Does not recognize prior experience or consider rotations ahead of the strict 1.5-2 year requirements.

Conagra - Fast-paced Industry and Evolving Culture

Jun 1, 2021 - Manager in Chicago, IL
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - In addition to the more steady consumer staple brands, Conagra has taken a great interest in innovation as well as M&A to stay ahead of the competition. - Culture growing within Merchandise Mart office

      Cons

      - Increasingly disconnected culture with Omaha office - Outside of early career support, experienced hires are expected to contribute right away with limited patience for learning curves which can be challenging with how quickly the business moves, planning cycles, quarterly earnings, etc - Success dependent on the support of your manager and the team you come in on often determines your success

      Pros

Vacation Days, "Occasional Days", Great Employees (mostly)

      Cons

This review is more towards Pinnacle Foods. Conagra Brands bought them out in late 2019. So, all Department Managers are leftover from Pinnacle and they do not adhere to the culture Conagra would like to bring to the facility. They're stuck in their ways. Refuse to try new ideas to improve efficiency. HR is HORRIBLE for 3rd Shift Employees (Shift ends at 6:00AM and an HR representative would not show up until 8:00AM). Department Managers have no idea what they're doing. They love to pass blame down the ladder and never stand up for their Supervisors.
