    Pros

There is a tremendous opportunity at the plants for improvement in terms of production efficiency improvement through capacity management and capital investment. As a manager those types of projects are how you cut your teeth and build a skill set including Change Management, Team Leadership, and Project Management. It is also very satisfying to participate in those types of changes and see the long-term impact of ROI in the bottom line.

The organization will be undergoing big change under the leadership of Gary Rodkin so in the next few years the whole company will be going through major change. Once the transformation is complete at Corporate, the impact will trickle down to the plant management.

At the subject plant in particular there are some very talented and dedicated individuals throughout all levels.

    Cons

Same as the best reasons--that there's so much opportunity. If you can maintain your patience to deal with the frustration of seeing the opportunity and not being able to make change. There is a legacy in the middle management of pandering to the unions, inadequate documentation of quality/discipline issues, and cheating the very metrics intended to guide leadership.

Until upper management can weed out those who lack integrity and discipline, change will not happen.

    Advice to Management

Go after those individuals who will undermine the organization for their own personal gain with a vengeance. Focus on hiring practices such as personality profiling and behavioral interviews to improve your ability to get the "Cream of the Crop." Right now the HR groups are hiring by affinity only.

I worked at Conagra Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Vacation negotiable usually to 3 weeks.
    Peers are generally good workers
Career advancement is easy because the people above you are idiots.

    Cons

    Mediocre pay
Work is 12-16 hour days Monday-Saturday.
    You will work every Saturday
Union relationships are horrible and you can't fire anyone who is doing things blatantly wrong.
Benefits are through a subsidiary of Con Agra and are expensive and cover absolutely nothing.
Company wants to coach every employee 1000 times before they take action.
Work is in HOT non air conditioned environment where team members sweat on food while making it.

    Advice to Management

Clean house, change policies, and do business the way it should be conducted.

I worked at Conagra Brands full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Opportunities to grow, continue employement
    Good Pay raises
    Most People Positive

    Cons

When your skills are no longer required they are very vicious and stingy, received 1 week pay.
Tribal, Nepotism apparent after 5 years, certain people are in the good ol boy club and are beyond ethics and bypass HR rules. Steer clear of EthicsPoint if you suspect someone who is a member...
Wish I'd taken advise by a former school teacher who left ConAgra and stated "good for five years only!"

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the narcisstic personalities in management who create all the ill will and are responsible for all the negative press events such as Peanut Butter recalls..

I worked at Conagra Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to start a career, learn about cutting edge technology (although poorly executed)

    Cons

The worst healthcare coverage that was expensive, extremely HOT manufacturing environment (employee comfort of no concern to management/too cheap to install exhaust fans). No concern for employee safety (see Garner, NC). Can't move up without managers approval, and with constant turnover, managers are more concerned about keeping status quo. Work 12-16 hour days 6-7 days per week with no additional compensation. Below average pay.

    Advice to Management

Hire directors and VP's that understand operations and marketing, then put them to work!

I have been working at Conagra Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    They gave me an income.

    Cons

The company bought out the place I was working for, got rid of all the customers and business we had, tried to create their own products instead, and then when their products flopped, the business was run into the ground (shut down) within 4 years.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to hold people accountable. They preach accountability, but don't practice what they preach.

The people are the best. Lots of good hearted people work there.

    Cons

No work / life balance at all. Management has no idea how to run the business.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people on the floor. Don't destroy lives just to make a buck. keep the people happy and the profits will come.

    Pros

There are no pro's, only dishonest and sneaky company.

    Cons

If you want to work for a company you have to always wonder about what they are doing behind close doors this is the company for you. Company is sneaky and sly. If they buy your company out please look for another job ASAP, In less than 2 years you will be demoted and then let go. They believe in numbers and not the quality given to their customers or consumers. What they tell you is never what you will get.

    Advice to Management

Be honest and stop looking for ways to deceive your consumers and customers, and employees. People aren't as ignorant and you think they are.
