I have been working at Conagra Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company really cares about the food they make. They care about food safety, employee safety, and all of their brands.

    Cons

Foods companies are always buying and selling plants

    Advice to Management

Dont put so much dual role responsibilities on the shoulders of the supervisor in smaller plants.

    Pros

    - Opportunity to learn and grow.
    - Decent pay for Omaha area.
    - Beautiful campus.
    - Some flexibility in schedule and work environment.

    Cons

    - High change environment.
    - Many RIFS and reorganizations.
    - Little empowerment to make decisions. Even the smallest decisions are run up the chain. A lot of hard work goes into assignments that get lost because leadership has to make the decision and they have more important priorities.
    - Many HR programs / initiatives designed to drive engagement, culture and employee growth have been cut.
    - The "do more with less" approach, coupled with the constant change, has caused burn out amongst remaining employees.
    - Many positions replaced by outsourcing or employees in Chicago.

    Advice to Management

ConAgra was once a place employees were proud to work. There was a time when employees smiled and happily said "good morning" as they walked through the doors. Over the course of the last few years, this died almost completely along with the company culture the previous CEO and his team worked hard to build.

Pick a company direction and commit to it. Trust your employees. Regardless of how much power the CEO position holds, vision and strategy only goes so far. It's the employees beneath him who carry it out and make the company successful. Apprectiate them. Make this company a place employees are proud to work for and happy to be everyday.

    Pros

Enjoyed co-workers. Challenging and interesting work at times.

    Cons

The move downtown was not appealing to all.

    Advice to Management

Be careful what "talent" you are looking to find in the city without valuing all those that have years of company experience.

    Pros

Great Benefits. Procter & Gamble Reliability Program will take any manufacturing company to World Class Status if it is strictly adhered to.

    Cons

No plant level leadership. Adherence to company policy and procedures are loosely administered and local labor contract is open to a wide variety of interpretation.

    Advice to Management

Tighten up on policies and reward your high achievers accordingly. Vendors hold ConAgra to higher standards that the plant holds itself to.

    Pros

The Trenton facility offers lots of opportunities. If you like to live in an area that has a lot of hunting Trenton is the place for you.

    Cons

The Trenton facility is old and has not been well taken care of over the years. The employees are difficult and resistant to change. A person taking the maintenance manager position will find quickly that they are not set up for success but instant success is the expectation.
