    Pros

    Flexibility is the only pro.

    Cons

Today's acquisition news was great news as it further solidified the pressure, wavering goals and hazy mission is here to stay which means it is time to move on.

    Advice to Management

Queue mass exodus; too late to fix anything.

"Profit over FLSA for clinic managers to offset non-exempt staffing reductions."

I have been working at Concentra full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Frequent clinic management position openings due to high clinic manager turn over rates. Clinic managers are salaried and required to work unreasonably long hours, routine 10 to 13 hour days required of clinic mangers to do non-exempt duties to offset reductions in non-exempt staff to reduce labor costs.

    Cons

Staff reductions in support departments (Acct. Mgmt., Sales, Referrals, Case Mgmt., Marketing, etc.) has resulted in those duties being pushed down to the clinics with no additional staffing. These duties are assigned to the already stretched thin clinics and they are expected to perform at higher efficiency than the dedicated departments. The clinics are not sufficiently staffed to effectively handle the patient volume and if any staff are off there is minimal PRN coverage available. Limited promotion ability due to downsizing and most managers above the clinic manager level are hired from outside the company.

    Advice to Management

Does increasing profit mean that management is choosing to ignore the Fair Labor Standards Act by requiring salaried exempt clinic managers to work a full day doing non-exempt support functions then do exempt duties. Reductions in non-exempt positions in Acct. Management and Referrals that were assigned to the clinic with no additional staffing. Now rolling out assigned marketing calls to clients across the nation to be done by salaried mangers because your support staffing reductions means not having enough staff and the companies unwillingness to pay telemarking expenses to make the calls. Does it require a class action lawsuit by the current and former clinic exempt managers to make the company do the right thing for its employees? Class Actions have had to be brought against other companies that have pursued profit over labor rules for exempt managers and the managers have had significant recoveries.

I worked at Concentra as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There's nothing to recommend this company.

    Cons

They take advantage of the prn medical staff. The emphasis is always on speed rather than quality. The support staff are rushed, poorly trained and unmotivated.

    Advice to Management

It's really acceptable to make a little less profit and take care of people who trust you with their lives.

    Pros

Opportunity to work from home in certain instances. Basically bankers hours from Eight to Five. Great and professional Physical Therapy departments.

    Cons

Management will tell you one thing and then do the opposite. They claim that the Sales department is their "lifeblood" yet TREAT them like the bottom of the barrel. They are constantly changing the comussion structure, sometimes mid stream, making it more difficult to achieve any real money. You don't have to take my word for it...the high employee turnover says it all. There are TOP performers quitting due to their paychecks getting continually smaller DESPITE huge sales numbers being put up. You have to justify your sales or you will not get the monies due. Thanks to John deLormier for this...putting company first and "lifeblood" LAST!

    Advice to Management

Wise up and start treating "lifeblood" as such!

    Pros

There aren't any since Select Medical took over and brought Florida and Detroit management to Baltimore.

    Cons

Low pay. You won't get a raise unless your center meets pre- established goals that apply to everyone as a whole, so the best employees are lumped in with the slackers. If you somehow manage to get a raise, it will be miniscule. Overtime is vehemently discouraged, but with a skeleton crew, you cannot get your tasks completed by day's end, so you either work off the clock or risk getting disciplined. No paid holidays. You have to use your PTO or go without pay. PTO is often revoked last minute. You're forced to change your plans or risk a write-up for not showing up. They get upset if you have to use FMLA. Area management is incredibly cheap. Getting them to buy lunch or a birthday cake is like pulling teeth. Their idea of "rewarding" you is to give you more responsibilities or a nonsense title. No one, including physicians, are able to properly perform urgent care services. We don't even have the proper equipment to perform simple services like cleaning out ear wax. Anything beyond a simple illness or stitches is out of our league but we will collect your payment anyway and not refund it even if we couldn't help you. Open positions are not properly advertised. They are usually filled by people area management has waiting in the wings. Several long term managers have left in the last year or so, and their positions were filled before they were posted. Current employees who want to move up don't even get the opportunity to apply. Sales people are hired right out of college with zero sales and zero medical experience. Center management is forced to train and help them and do their own jobs too. Area management has no boundaries when it comes to contacting you. You will get calls, texts and emails on weekends, your scheduled days off and the middle of the night. Concentra cannot keep enough doctors on staff, so they cater to the ones they have no matter what they do. If they are rude, slow or incompetent, it is not addressed because they are so desperate for providers.

    Advice to Management

Pay a decent wage. Offer better training. Evaluate employees individually. Give Baltimore management a chance to advance instead of bringing your cronies form out-of -state. Instead of telling your employees to post good reviews on Glassdoor because your rating is low (Yes, they did that.), how about improving working conditions so we can post honest, positive reviews??

I worked at Concentra full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros whatsoever, except as an illustration how to destroy a corporation within the next five years.

    Cons

Disgusting lazy manipulative upper management, none of whom do any work so they are free to harass, manipulate and engage in their other sociopathic behaviors and take out their obsessive sadism on those who do work.
Which is really funny, in a dark way, because the company is going broke because all these echelons of useless and unnecessary upper management and staff are sashaying around, the management flirting with their staff, and no one above the clinic level doing any work at all, other than preening and braying like a bunch of empty-headed flamingoes.
They could easily hire one or two more support staff per clinic, which they desperately need, if they fired 80% of all the employees about that level, whom they desperately don't need.
Their legion of 'medical directors' at all levels are uniformly lazy, shiftless, mischievous and generally sadistic, along with being inveterate scoundrels. Why? Because they drive anyone decent, ethical or industrious right out the door.
I've never seen such an aggressively dysfunctional business, ever, all the way to the top. Management is like boll weevils, cheerfully emptying the company coffers and resources until they collapse, and then they'll just find another host to suck the life out of.
Terrible work environment, spying and backstabbing, with toadying and kissing up the entire purpose of anyone from lowest to highest management. And the terrible slipshod care the physician managers are trying constantly to get the decent docs caring for patients to commit is likewise obscene.

    Advice to Management

    Quit
Get out of the way for ethical, hardworking professionals who could turn this lurching, rotting carcass of a business around in a heartbeat

You get a paycheck every 2 weeks.

    Cons

Management shows favoritism to certain employees and they are praised even if they make mistakes. The center is very unorganized and management only cares about making bonus. The doctors can be rude and the back office staff complain about everything.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage in a professional manner and appreciate your staff!!

I have been working at Concentra full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    It's a job. Five words.

    Cons

After my company was acquired by Concentra we were given fluffy job titles that sound important but aren't. They brag about their chain of command and nationwide acquisitions like it's something to be proud of but they are like McDonald's or Starbucks in my opinion. They run every clinic short staffed as a way to save on their bottom line which is all that really matters, meanwhile we have two hour wait times so the patients are fed up and the staff is stressed out. This appears to be a driving policy though from reading other reviews. There's so much paperwork and buttons to push that more time is spent checking boxes than with patients. I've been looking for a new job so hopefully my nightmare will end soon.

    Advice to Management

Go to a retreat to find your soul.

    Pros

There's a lot of work so I guess that's good job security.

    Cons

Over worked and under paid. Understaffed company who excpects one employee to do the job of 2 or 3 people. You have no back up so forget taking time off when your sick or for vacation.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees needs and don't take advice to heart or as an insult when an employee is trying their best.
