    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Conceptwave Software Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The main product is quite neat.

    Cons

The company exists in a constant state of emergency, with people being pulled off projects in order to deal with the next crisis. There is little to no transfer of knowledge between groups, and employees are moved around with no regard to their strengths and weaknesses. Is the only person who knows how something works on vacation? No problem, pull in someone who has never seen it before and expect them to get it done with no help or guidance at all. And don't factor in time for the learning curve at all! The company relies heavily on a handful of developers who have been there for years and who know how things work and where they are. Code quality suffers because everyone is afraid of making changes that might break something they can't fix. There are literally no documents detailing how to use the system except for an extremely out of date user manual.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are not interchangeable parts - don't just assign work to the first person to cross your path. Let people specialize in their tasks. And hire some proper QA people instead of having all the developers spend a few hours a day doing regression testing. Finally, before shipping a product, turn it on to see if it works.

    Pros

competitive salary, challenging work, getting to now the customer, share their experience and make improvement to the product, solution etc

    Cons

nothing specific to mention but travel may be an issue (can also be negotiated though), longer work hours sometimes without immediate compensation

I worked at Conceptwave Software Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people; good culture; stable environment. Lot's of diverse projects and responsibilities / autonomy. People worked as a team. Mature startup.

    Cons

Some of the processes were archaic with growing pains. Some departments ruled more by authority/title than meritocracy. CEO could at times be micro-managing. Good work/life balance. Management cares about family and good-will.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, a good job. Watch the micro-managing, and give senior managers autonomy and decision-making authority; cut-back on micro-managing even though it can be hard to "let go." Curtail tribal-knowledge and improve some processes (sometimes key knowledge lied in the minds of just a few; and when they traveled or were unavailable, all things seemed to slow down, waiting on them for information or needless approvals).

    Pros

company has its own software product, using its own object module, have a meta data service designer tool, quite special, can develop prototype quickly and so can be shown to client in early stage

    Cons

skills tied to this specific product and model, when you want to pursue some other general Web Developer or J2EE developer role on the market, not possible, unless you got training or learned by yourself

I have been working at Conceptwave Software Inc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Involved in various aspects of the Human Resources, Payroll and Group Benefit Administration areas of the Company. Able to interact with all employees and executive team.

    Cons

Hard to balance work time and personal life. No room for growth due to the size of the HR department.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees. Allow employees to freely communicate their thoughts on the Company and its management team. The executive might be surprised to hear what employees have to say.

    Pros

Ever growing company. If you like travelling, there is plenty of it!

    Cons

Not much room for growth unless you've been there for 7 or 8 years!

    Pros

Dynamic, cutting edge technology. They have good PM's and it is a friendly, multi-cultural environment. Plenty of opportunity to travel across the world.

    Cons

You have to really drive yourself to get noticed in the competitive environment. They do not believe in work from home.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest more social events and team building activities. It can tend to get 'heads down' for long periods of time with no team or company meetings.
