    Pros

Working with the kids is rewarding. I feel that I make a positive contribution to the atmosphere of the campus.

    Cons

Underappreciated. Underpaid. Understaffed (you feel the burden). Horrible hours (you are asked to come and go many times through the school day, sometimes for as little as a 20 minute shift.

    Advice to Management

I am overqualified for this job (bachelors degree and a good career), but thought it would be nice to work at the school a few hours a week since I decided to be a stay at home parent for a few years. I have never worked so hard for such little appreciation, ever.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Conejo Valley USD part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A wonderful way to serve a population that really needs you. Also as a paraprofessional, your hours are as stated. There is almost never overtime work although you may sub extra hours if you are able and the need arises.

    Cons

You will reach a salary cap--little room for growth and upward movement unless you go on for advanced licenses or degrees.

    Advice to Management

Keep a clear communications so we know what is happening at the management levels that concerns us.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Conejo Valley USD part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Working 3.5 Hours a day let me continue to work at Brooks Institute at the same time. Working with the staff and kids was a blast. Kids at that age or so respectful of the elders. Working here allowed me to be hands on with my PC tech skills. Being a one man show gave me control of all aspects of the tech at the school.

    Cons

The only con I can think of was the commuting between the two jobs. Maybe the sixth Graders. I would still be there except for the fact that they decided to make the job Full time and I already had a full time job at Brooks.
