    Pros

The company values safety and pays fairly well

    Cons

Upper management is often lacking in competency and plays politics based on personal achievement over the needs of the company as a whole

I have been working at Conestoga-Rovers & Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible supervisors, opportunity to travel, variety of projects, high profile clients, safety placed at a premium, acceptable benefits, very talented upper management and senior personnel

    Cons

Very few cons, overall positive review of the company, unsure of what will happen with merger and how company will grow and evolve. As large as company is it struggles maintaining consistency from office to office.

I have been working at Conestoga-Rovers & Associates part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fairly easy to get hired on. I would say that CRA has been fair to me for the position that I hold and my experience level, but I've had two good supervisors that treated me well. If you are an hourly employee and don't mind travel, you can make better money than the salaried folks. I like my coworkers and the atmosphere is generally light hearted and easy to deal with. Some opportunity to relocate around the country if that is what you're looking for.

    Cons

Low salaries.... lack of variety in the projects that are worked on, but this seems to be a trend in the environmental consulting industry. No real bonus program to speak of. Principals talk big talk about a lot but rarely follow through on anything and don't give you the time of day when they occasionally visit. The amount of paperwork, meetings, and approval process for every little task make getting things done efficiently next to impossible....especially the safety stuff....more paperwork DOES NOT make people more safe. Every time this company merges with another one, the stack of paperwork and red tape gets thicker.

    Advice to Management

Cough up some money for bonuses and raises. I think retention of quality people is on the decline because people are still making the same salary as they were 4-5 years ago but their knowledge base and skill level has risen dramatically. There are some very talented and undervalued people working here that would do a lot more for the company if they felt compensated for their efforts. A real comp time bonus would be a great addition, the lower level field staff that travel a lot are getting burned out for very little compensation.

    I worked at Conestoga-Rovers & Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable work with not much chance of being laid off. Some of the people there are good people who look out for their coworkers and those who work for them.

    Cons

Some of the managers are drunk with power and treat the people that work for them like servants.

    Advice to Management

Wake up to how some of your supervisors talk to and treat the ones who actually do the heavy lifting.

    Pros

Lots of younger people who are all in the same boat. Large variety of work.

    Cons

Upper level's experience and knowledge seems to be a mile wide and an inch deep.

I have been working at Conestoga-Rovers & Associates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance (with right supervisor). Provides training in variety of subjects. Flexible schedule for salary employees (again, with right supervisor).

    Cons

Pay is low for the industry. Benefits have declined significantly. Definitely a difference in treatment and expecations for female professionals. Promotions are difficult and favortism is definitely an issue. Management is not inspiring and they don't really understand how to manage a company and motivate employees.

    Advice to Management

To keep smart, high-performing individuals, you may want to give them more opportunities and push them up the ladder faster rather than letting them remain stagnent and then have them quit. The reason there are so many poor managers in the company is because all of the good employees have left.

I have been working at Conestoga-Rovers & Associates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Known to hire new grads without any experience. Great place to gain experience but not so good for upper management. They spend a lot of time training to lose employees after a couple of years that have gained the experience and would like to make more money and see what other opportunities are out there.

    Cons

Very client driven. Difficult to develop creativity when most of the duties are based on client expectations.

    Advice to Management

Show more support to junior staff. Clearly define their roles and responsibility and offer some incentives (pay, benefits, advancement, and bonuses) to junior staff. They are the future of the company and should be valued more.
