I have been working at Conexant Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good IP, great history. There is little work to do as most wait for direction.

    Cons

From a leader the company has become a laggard. Just being a me-too. Can make more money by using IP. Since company lacks direction there are little opportunities. Once something is identified most all fight to get a piece of action. Really bad environment.

    Advice to Management

Figure out which Market you want to be in.

    Pros

Encourages learning, on-going education. Most team members are very intelligent and do not feel to feel conspicuous about it. An old poster read "If your IQ number is higher than your weight number, stop into our technical library." Most are great to work with and dedicated to common goals. New product development is exciting and led by exciting teams.

    Cons

Changes in leadership, down-sizing and anxiety over job stability has effected morale. At times employees in one department have lived under the threat of out-sourcing for months but it doesn't happen while employees in another department that feel secure turn out not to be.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes important changes such as company mergers, acquisitions and potential layoffs have shown up on the internet or in the business section of the newspaper before being communicated to the employees. Announcements such as lay-offs need to be handled better with an explanation of how the decision was made and why it was necessary. Those not being effected should be assured there aren't more layoffs expected for whatever time period management can commit to.

I worked at Conexant Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People are great. Workload challenging but rewarding. New offices are beautiful, easy to find, and centrally located near freeways and restaurants.

    Cons

No work/life balance. Be ready to work overtime at the office and at home. If you have a long commute be ready to be tired all the time.

    Advice to Management

Management has changed since I was employed and, I've heard, some aspects are better. As Conexant does better financially, I'm sure the work/life balance will improve.
