I have been working at Connection full-time

    Pros

In my 6 months here, I've been provided with adequate training, learned a lot by doing and had opportunities to expand my duties to other departments. My goals involve growing with other departments and I've been allowed to and encouraged to branch out. Every indication has been given to me that if I work hard and apply myself that I'll have the opportunity to grow with the company, in roles that best meet my passion and skillset *and* benefit Connection. I work with a great team and the people I've met and occasionally collaborate with from other teams have been, for the most part, open, helpful, and accommodating. The work/life balance, benefits, and flexibility when it comes to appointments have been very satisfactory.

    Cons

A higher 401(K) match would be nice. A revamp of the decor (no more 'cubeland") would be refreshing as well, but that can challenging with so many employees.

    Advice to Management

Some systems (like JDE) are very outdated and difficult to navigate. Other systems and sites have been or are soon being updated, so they are on the right track. Other than that, my experience has been really good so far. Employee retention rate is excellent here and I see myself sticking around for a long time if the environment continues to be the way it is today.

I have been working at Connection full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Great bonus gifts and prizes for vendors. You will making 6 figures quickly. Yearly achievers trip. Written thank you notes from your director when you make goal. Free breakfast and lunches. After work events. Company wide outings and events. Patriot players come to a BBQ every year. No weekends. Great vacation time and all major holidays. Unlimited commissions and spiffs. Big break rooms and cafe. Weekly and monthly trainings. We are definitely spoiled.

    Cons

I love Connection, but I'd be lying if I didn't mention JDE. it has to be updated. It takes so long to maneuver it takes you away from more important work. We are a leader in IT but not in our own company. Updating JDE should be priority 1 in 2018. I also wish other depts would have the same goals as sales. We strive to take care of our customers and get them their products in a timely manner. Other depts strive to push back on sales. If you don't match your 19 notes exactly on licensing orders it will be put on hold. Then they will note and close case. If you don't go back and check your order several times a day it will not process. Advice to management please remind other depts that simple changes like capitalizing a letter on an order is ok.

Favoritism is a huge problem. When someone leaves accounts are given to reps that are the supervisors favorites. I think they should be divided up equally. If rep leaves 20 buying acounts, 17 shouldn't be given to the supervisors favorite. Especially if that rep is on a pip.

PIPS. There is no standard. You see reps that go on them after 3 months but then see reps who haven't made goal in 8 or 9 months with no PIP. We saw a rep taken of a PIP so she could go on the Achievers trip last year. You have to curb the favoritism. It is bad for moral.

Curb the sexism. Stop the boys club mentality. Male sales reps get all the leads and accounts handed to them. The majority of the successful women have found and developed their accounts on their own.

BDM. Please hire more! They are instrumental in developing our accounts. They are spread to thin. We need more and asap.

    Advice to Management

We have great managers, directors and VP's. Supervisors are great but we should have more and smaller teams. Hire more coaches. They are spread to thin and newbies don't get enough support and depend on busy coworkers for help as supervisors are in meetings half the day. Encourage equality among the sales reps. Hire more BDMs get rid of JDE. Increase our 401k match to the industry standard. Match 6% not 10cents on the dollar. Overall you do a great job listening to us. I don't know any coworkers that don't love their jobs and love Connection.

Outdated cubicles. Fast turnover on the sales floor. Poor training and you’re expected to learn a lot on the fly. Management doesn’t listen to what their employees have to say.
