      Pros

Great benefits, average salary for the position, good work schedules for lucky employees

      Cons

On call rotation can have people working way more hours than legally allowed, field employees aren't valued nearly as highly as engineers. Tons of opportunities for advancement for office employees while technicians are stuck. This includes moving inexperienced office personnel into field supervisor roles.

      Great Company

      Pros

I enjoyed working at ConocoPhillips for the first 6 years, great benefits and great pay, I am under the impression that management cares about their employees and personal development. We are encouraged to move around and try new things. This is also a double edged sword...

      Cons

Sometimes there is too much movement and knowledge is lost. By the time you are trained and contributing to the business, its time to change roles again. This can cause a lot of frustration to the business and unnecessary stress on the team.

      Ok place to work

      Pros

Lots of opportunities for change (not necessarily advancement), due to the size of the company. Good pay and great benefits compared to other industries. Relatively secure compared to more cut throat industries. If you are the kind of person who just wants to coast until retirement with decent pay and benefits this may be the place.

      Cons

Job satisfaction is quite low. How people are promoted and rewarded is extremely political. You are rewarded more for conforming to the status quo than being innovative and using your abilities. Lots of wasted talent exists at this company and the seemingly endless supply of poor managers will never extract it. I would not waste too much time here if you really want to do more with your life and feel you have given and achieved your full potential.

      Fantastic experience

      Pros

Exciting company, in the midst of transformation. Aggressive growth, and high rewards. Great work-life balance, great benefits, good culture. Since the company split (Phillips 66 is the new, separate downstream company), the company is reinventing itself as a low-risk, high-return company.

      Cons

Somewhat bureaucratic, but normal for a large company. Somewhat challenging to interact with colleagues across the globe, or even understand what's going on in other areas of the business.

      Good to their employees

      Pros

Great benefits (although they have degraded slightly recently), smart people, flexible schedules (9/80, 19/30, etc). People that bring extra value to the company get recognized (and compensated) for it.

      Cons

The downturn has soured the atmosphere. When layoffs are imminent the mood is very gloomy. Management holds lots of town halls and tries to be transparent but often falls short.

      Cons

lots of process, decision making can be slow. Sometimes tasks are divided among many resulting in less than optimal levels of challenge

      RE Perspective

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits and career opportunities. Offers stock options and has a high dividend compared to its competitors. Plenty of opportunities to work capital projects, develop fields, or optimize production, both internationally and domestic. They also offer copious amounts of career training and are very safety conscious.

      Cons

There can sometimes be too much red tape in order to get approval for projects, even the low cost projects. This leads to delays and makes an engineer spin his wheels. Also, because they are so safety conscious, there tends to be problems with project costs. From an employee perspective, they care more about their investors than their employees (as seen from them refusing to cut their "highest paying dividend").
