Good pay and benefits. Great university new hire program (hired in 2008). Ability to move positions within company.

Worked in Bartlesville OK, the location wasn't ideal (Bartlesville is my hometown). Cyclic oil/gas business, there were a few rounds of layoffs in my 9 years. IT has lots of processes and procedures that make it slow to change.

excellent benefits package (top of the industry's peers) great pay and room for advancement. very safety minded company and environmentally caring.

cant hardly be promoted in your area you almost have to move to be promoted. Layoffs happen every few years as oil and gas prices rise and fall.

There are great benefits including 401k, pension, medical, dental, and vision. There are also career development options. Cross function training available too.

The oil and gas Industry is cyclical and can be an uneasy work environment. My current supervisors is a micro manager and can make it difficult to work.

Great benefits, good policies for benefits and employee treatment. When oil price is good, this is a great place to work.

2017 changes brought many ex-pats to leadership and a (needed) refocus on cost. Business needed it but very stressful on employees and even with the salaries and bonus...is it worth it? Main problem is oil / gas price. Tough times.

During the current downturn in $/BOE, COP has made many strategic decisions and launched associated initiatives that will lead to greater efficiencies across their business. This should translate to higher profitability and investment return to shareholders and employees on the next up cycle.

Current state of business for an Oil&Gas upstream company are very trying. Gas is cheap at the pump but at the cost of many thousands of jobs and careers.

Pros

Fairly stable hours and good work-life balance (with some notable exceptions). Lower and mid-level management has been good-to-great so far in my experience. Company fitness facilities are free and very good.

Cons

Slow upward mobility in a large organization. It takes a while to get in a higher position with higher pay (especially now with oil & gas prices being so low). For MBAs, rotational program is no longer well defined options are increasingly limited with the downsizing.

Pros

Pay and benefits are great, especially at the larger offices where there are wellness facilities but they still offer discounts to local gyms.

Cons

A lot of opportunities are in remote locations - even if you're at a larger facility this can make getting things done difficult in the field. Not a lot of glamorous locations, or jobs. Oil & Gas is so cyclical, career longevity's a roll of the dice unless you know the right people. If you're reading this, you don't.

Pros

The pay is pretty good. Benefits (health insurance, bonuses, pension, etc.) are decent. If you are an engineer or geologist, you get better incentives than other functions (restricted stocks, etc). The company has 9/80s, which means some people get every other Friday off (but not everybody).

Cons

It's an uninspired place to work. Nobody loves their job at ConocoPhillips.There are lots of bureaucrats. The company is always a few years behind in technology. Don't be fooled by their recruitment tour or flashy website. The company doesn't have a strong brand or cohesive identity - people usually think I work at a gas station. ConocoPhillips doesn't even own gas stations, but doesn't put any effort into managing their reputation.
