I worked at Consolidated Electrical Distributors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is the first organization that I've worked at where I honestly thought of everyone as family, rather than colleagues!

    Cons

The pay was simply unacceptable for a college graduate; although, I was in need of work and took a non-degree'd position to begin.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

Great company. They train you on every aspect of the job. They always treated their people right. Diverse environment allows for idea creation.

    Cons

Sometimes long hours. Training at times could have been better. Some MITs had better training managers than others. I was forced to learn on my own at times.

    Advice to Management

I think they are doing right by their people. Some training was a little hands off and little supervision. I think a more direct approach will help people who are not as sure of what they are doing

I have been working at Consolidated Electrical Distributors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can learn a lot about how to run a business. You gain experience in almost all aspects of the business if you work in a small PC.

    Cons

Two years with no payraise; little room for growth; basically no training; You have to teach yourself the electrical industry.

    Advice to Management

Give promotions earlier based on merit and stick to your word about your training program. Don't tell people they will be managers, when what you really want is a sales staff.

    Pros

Consolidated Electrical Distributors is a decentralized business with a competitive culture and profit sharing when qualified. Great managers and really helpful environment.

    Cons

It was not unusual to work 50-60 hours a week as an intern, but there is time and a half overtime pay. A very money-motivated environment and sometimes high pressure situations.
