Company No Longer Respects Its Employees
Sep 21, 2017 - Customer Service in Loveland, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pay is fair, benefits are okay. Most PTO I have ever been offered in the workplace.
Cons
Since we were bought out, the company has really gone down hill. The attrition is so terrible, any time we get a new round of new hires, they are mostly gone before the next class. We are labeled as customer service, but really we are sales people but without the commission. Upper management has lost touch with what is actually going on in support. They had no idea their middle management wasn't supporting their teams until they had an interview process recently. The culture used to be great but now everyone seems to hate their jobs and a lot of people have started on meds for anxiety.

Great mission and figuring it out
Jul 7, 2015 - Senior Manager, Marketing in Waltham, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Love the mission-driven nature of what we do, it's not patter, it's very real. The people are great and are collectively in it to make it work.
Cons
A little slow to move in the broader tech space and an increasingly bureaucratic/meeting-heavy culture can put a stop on things.

Pre-acquisition CTCT will always be the best company I've been a part of
Dec 27, 2017 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Awesome coworkers Laid back culture Tuition reimbursement Good benefits (401k match) Pre-acquisition CTCT was the BEST. The people were great, the culture was amazing and it seemed like everyone really had a common goal to deliver the best product to our customers and help them every step of the way. The company parties were unmatched, they took care of the employees and you really felt like you were part of something great -because you were. There was great collaboration in many cross-functional teams who's goal was really to help small businesses succeed.
Cons
Post-acquisition, not so much. Instead of being focused on what's best for our customers it really became about getting the most $$ from them (which really doesn't seem right considering the cater to SMALL businesses). It trickled down from the top and hit every facet of organization. So much so that most of the great people who had genuine interest in making a difference and delivering quality left in droves. After that it kind of became post apocalyptic almost. The culture completely shifted and those that were left seemed to stay out of necessity instead of want. If you're passionate about what you do, are looking to make a real difference (and some real money), consider other options (I did and it was the most difficult but best decision I have ever made).

Helping professionals to make informed decisions for their career and prospective employers. Use it.
Feb 28, 2015 - Principal Software Engineer in Waltham, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Many times companies will harmfully “bad mouth” you unfairly to other prospective employers. This many times causes us to be unemployed,. We that have families and needs, serious needs, not just greed to make our bank accounts get bigger numbers. At least this is not my case. I take pride of my work. Share you views fairly about places that you worked. Companies share their views about you in unfair ways sometimes anonymously. I will not be anonymous. BTW, I am writing this a few years later of my 'let go' from those past jobs. No 'disgruntled person' as some companies may claim. (note: this site forced me to remove my name from this review although I don't want to be anonymous). I worked for Constant Contact for almost 5 years from Jan 2007 until October 2011. The first years were a great and growing experience as a person and as a professional. The company had a vibrating group of people and a fair opportunity growth. I was promoted from Lead to Senior and Senior to Principal. Their systems are fairly complex and worthy your time invested, really, invested. You will learn a lot about engineering and collective team work. It came the moment of “employee clean up” process. Many times I was a target and also many times I was given a fair chance to correct myself and become a more productive and better employee. Kudos to my director xxx (I am not allowed to mention names on this site - site's policy not mine). Unfortunately HIGHER MANAGEMENT hired an individual for that job that would curse and make sex jokes. Not a very professional attitude. My manager suffered the pressure of finding ways to let me go. Not cool, but also fair. Be prepared for unfair 'you are not so good anymore' and having total disregard about track record of your good work. There is an expectation that you should be an “Einstein” all the time. Unfortunately one new hire became aggressive towards others and me and at a point was 'fired' at the spot for loosing control. I was to be blamed. I asked HR to fairly investigate the issue. They were not fair. Selective group of people were chosen as witnesses. I seriously thought, and many others, that they did a 'witch hunt' on me. Believe or not I still managed to save my job but that stressed me to the point that I expressed my concerns to HR. I was given the choice of resign or be fired. I chose to be fired since I do believe in my own integrity even to the cost of losing a job. When other prospective employers check with them about me , they are, anonymously, quick to denigrate (back door) my person and cause my opportunities to 'fly away', again, leaving me and my family to suffer despite all the things I have done for the company. I worked directly on 3 of 4 of their most important products, Survey, Respondent App, Document Hosting and many other sub-systems including fixing bug in productions. If you are considering working for ConstantContact be aware of that culture in the company. Management's poor judgment about their employees can hurt you despite your ability to exercise your duties with success. People are great and my Director of IT xxxx (I am not allow to mention names on this site - site's policy not mine) is very fair and understanding. They have a great opportunity for growth and the complexity of their systems/code will teach and straighten you. Super fun. They have a solid structure, real software company and utilize a vast number of technologies. The real deal. Take it in my opinion. I would highly advice you to work there, just be aware of HIGHER MANAGEMENT hidden plans of 'clean up' and employe xxxx (I am not allowed to mention names on this site - site's policy not mine), the 'job cleaner'. Keep HR unfair decisions in mind when you will seriously need them. They are flexible with sick time and vacation. Watch out for extra work when your vacation time is coming. No roll over vacations. They seem to have an interest in you taking a 'two weeks' and 'single days' vacations to avoid one long vacation. The company seams to have a very health approach to customers and overall policies. Salaries are very competitive. I am not allowed to mention names on this site - site's policy not mine. I want to say what is my name but I am not allowed. Bummer.
Cons
Watch out for for unfair HR and selected group of HIGHER MANAGEMENT's favorites. Vacations times are favored for shorted one day or one week vacation instead of long vacations. No roll over vacations. Interstate 95 commute is very stressful. Use the flexibility that company provides. Timelines are usually fair and managers understand that. Agile process is healthy. You must learn fast.

Pros
The people here are great and the company mission means a lot to me.
Cons
There is absolutely no plan for the future. It’s impossible to do any work with purpose or excitement because you never know what’s going to actually happen. Pay is significantly lower than other roles in the market. The company has been acquired twice in 5 years and it’s a revolving door. There are people leaving who have worked here for 10+ years because it’s gotten so bad. New leadership team is terrible.

Great company to work for
Jul 29, 2015 - Senior Product Manager in Waltham, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Constant Contact has a great culture and mission. The people are really great to work with and the hiring policy on culture works hard to keep it that way. Freedom to bring up ideas, thoughts and move your teams work forward is really refreshing.
Cons
Communication between senior management and individual contributors is not as strong as it used to be or could be. It's hard for an individual contributor or team leader to always understand how their work contributes to the overall strategy and success of the business. Too many projects going on at once that don't all come together as a whole.
Continue readingThank you for your review. We pride ourselves on our culture and work hard to maintain it no matter changes. People like you have been a huge contributor to building the culture that we have today. So, thank you for your 8+ years here! Freedom to bring up new ideas is definitely something we like to encourage, especially with the increased focus on innovation (InnoLoft, InnoIdea, InnoJams, etc). But your suggestion about allocating resources is fantastic!

constant contact has some room for improvement
Apr 14, 2014 - Manager in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people who work here are great as long as they are not senior mgt. Everyone pitches in and helps each other Benefits are good
Cons
Sr. Mgt. needs to stay more in touch with what is really going on and speak to the workers who are not managers and get some honest feedback and not what they want to hear from their sr. managers

The people you meet and work with here are really great. The job is a great opportunity to get some experience
May 8, 2021 - Inside Sales Executive in Waltham, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people you meet and work with here are really great. The job is a great opportunity especially those looking to get into entry level closing positions in well known SaaS company. The CSO is an absolute angel and she cares about her reps. The managers are cool people. The product provides value to most who take the time to use it, it’s not hard to sell. The sales training is great as well, shout out to EB.
Cons
It can be hard not to feel like just a number here at times because the interest to retain and capitalise on top talent by developing them for other roles and making sure they don’t get burned out is nonexistent. The company was recently purchased by a private equity firm and the transition process and pause on marketing has really impacted the prospect potential. I have nothing but love for everyone who’s a hard worker there, but as a sales rep who has a lot of experience in marketing, they don’t seem to have a message to deliver nor a finger on who they should be delivering such a message. Sales ops team has recently implemented new dialling strategies that require you to call leads starting at 8am in their time zone unless they’re in EST and call them 3 more times over the next 3 hours if they don’t answer. They cited some data saying this tactic is undoubtedly more effective but it’s definitely not and the sales department average and number of people consistently hitting their goal has dropped dramatically since this went into effect. Correlation does not equal causation, however there was no dialogue, the data was what it was, doesn’t matter how it made the reps feel. In order to get this “data” there was a short test period with a small number of reps that made it seem like there could be a slight uptick in conversations leading to sales. No expected benefits were ever realised. It has its ups and downs just like any sales job but if you take it seriously and do your best to learn quickly and implement coaching you can really establish yourself here.

Great people hampered by disappointing leadership
Jul 15, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are so many great people here who are talented at what they do and genuinely care so much about the customers.
Cons
Leadership isn't interested in a genuine discussion when it comes to feedback. Morale is rock bottom across most departments, and in a recent merit cycle, many people were given no increase or an increase well below the average cost of living. When these concerns were brought to leadership in an all hands meeting as concerns over employee retention (there are a lot of talented people leaving the company), it was taken very poorly by leadership and decried as "negativity" and "whining." They ran out the clock for the Q&A portion of the meeting so they wouldn't need to address it further. It's super disappointing.
