I have been working at Constellation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    1. If you like big companies with free perks like soda, coffee, snacks in the lunch room then you'll like CEG. There's also the occasional free lunch. 2. Social environment for the most part. You're free to chitchat with your neighbors and socialize. 3. No micro-management. Take breaks as you need them, and just get your work done. Results are everything here. 4. Training is offered as they see fit. 5. One of the top Energy companies on the east coast, and a great learning experience in general. People are nice and friendly.

    Cons

    1. Meetings are plentiful, and rather dull. Follow up meetings are commonplace. 2. Difficult to differentiate yourself. You're left to find your own path in the company with little guidance. 3. Meet your own people, and build up your own network to survive. Employees have been w/ the company for a long time, but most won't reach out initially.

I worked at Constellation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Enjoyed the people and made many great friends and work relationships and the job was a great learning experience. Good pay and bonus.

    Cons

Some jobs are very structured where people are unable to think on their own and think outside the box to curtail future problems. Difficult to maneuver career, really need to be in right place at right time or know the right person. I don't feel jobs were filled based on best qualified candidates.

I have been working at Constellation full-time

    Pros

Team members are great, for the most part. Working at a Nuclear Power Plant provides interesting work. Job stability. Decent benefits. Free safety shoes!

    Cons

Weird promotion rules. People who obviously have more talent, skills and responsibilities are often passed over for promotions in favor of old-timers who've been around longer. Merit pay increases are a joke (1% raise doesn't even cover cost of living). Although there is an emphasis on safety, schedule pressures can force people's hands. Work Life balance is a joke: 40 hours a week job really means 50-60 with no extra pay.

I have been working at Constellation

    Pros

Good coworkers, great salary level for the greater DC area. Depending on which department you work for, your contributions may be recognized. Generally good level of vacation days. So far, unlimited sick days (but can he checked upon if requested by management).

    Cons

Depending on who you have as a manager, you may not get necessary guidance. This is changing though. As the company undergoes a merger, there will be plenty of ambiguity. In some departments, contribution by the non-management level may go unnoticed. Performance evaluation from the direct report (i.e. one level above) can be trumphed by senior management to match the department objectives.

    I worked at Constellation

    Pros

Got promotted quickly, made more money than I thought at my age. Average bonus was 15% even when year was bad. Had to fight for the promotion, but they were fair and gave it to me.

    Cons

Poor communication from management. Constantly try to outsource. Restructure company every few months. No clear direction and you never know if you will have a job.

    I worked at Constellation

    Pros

-You can use vacation time as long as you ask in advance -Free candy at the front desk -Health fairs/incentives to join health related things/blood drives

    Cons

-While it boasts merit based promotions/pay, this is not often the case -Many decisions are political and personal, and there is obvious favoritism that strongly sways decisions that should be made from an economical/practical/logistical perspective -Management is in disarray and no one seems to really know what they are doing -"Restructuring" happens so often that the worker doesn't even know what business unit of Constellation they work for -While they claim to care about their employees, the company ultimately cares more about the dollar than their workers -Poor communication within the company/business units

I have been working at Constellation

    Pros

Overall good company with good benefits and systems in place.

    Cons

Baltimore. infighting between departments. Lack of 360 degree reviews. White man's club. No training. Departments can operate in isolation and allow a dictator to flourish. This and the resulting turnover can go unnoticed or ignored as long as the department produces. Fairness is not a top priority and relationships matter very much.

I have been working at Constellation

    Pros

The energy industry is quite dynamic so the company is positioned to offer career growth opportunity. The company also fosters a collegial environment where employee views are valued. Compensation package is considered fairly decent. Benefits are generally good except vacations.

    Cons

Long hours due to conservative approach to staffing. Vacation entitlement is not great (3 weeks for the first 15 years). Company has quite a barbell distribution in terms of employee seniority.

I have been working at Constellation

    Pros

Leadership team is great and very visionary. There are job opportunities across the company and in the utility in Baltimore.

    Cons

Current merger with Exelon provides opportunities as well as challenges. Some people will truly benefit from the opportunities, others will be placed in temporary positions.
