I have been working at Constellation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a great place to work for if you want to move up the ranks quickly, all you have to do is show that you are willing to put in the work. The culture is great, and cool location in Downtown Houston. For a college student looking for their first internship, it is a great opportunity to learn about corporate America, and to get their foot in the door. Majority of the other interns they hire are incredibly nice and I'm still friends with many of them! They made the internship worth it.

    Cons

The overall internship was not that great. No intern activities or socials, and the group I was placed into was completely irrelevant to my major. The managers on my team were not prepared, nor were they equipped for an intern. They assigned me a project and sent me the data regarding the project my first day and expected me to work on the project for 10 weeks. I was able to finish the project by the second week and when I repeatedly asked for more things to do or access to work on invoices like the other interns on other teams were doing I kept getting told, "work on your project again, we're busy". Thankfully the people around me were incredibly nice and let me shadow them and were kind enough to explain how the company processes their invoices and such. My managers weren't even aware of when my last day was (lol).

    Advice to Management

To HR, and those in charge of the Internship programs, please advise team managers to be more prepared for interns. I didn't get access to anything and practically sat there for 10 weeks. I would've been much happier getting coffee and printing papers. I know a few other interns that worked with me experience a similar fate.

I worked at Constellation (More than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance, lots of networking opportunity. They did allow contractors to work from home in the beginning, and things started to change after new leadership appointed.

    Cons

Team building non existent, employees not friendly. Was a contractor there, and was not always treated well. Worked other places and being a contractor was better.

    Advice to Management

Look to hire more friendly employees. Express the importance of sharing knowledge with colleagues. Company needs to recruit better with individuals who have solid background and education.

I have been working at Constellation (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Constellation offers a competitive benefits package.

    Cons

Constellation generally hires contractors for long-term assignments. Upon completion of their contract term, instrumental employees are rarely offered a permanent employment. This causes disruptions in the workflow process and also contributes to negativity in the workplace.

    Advice to Management

Invest in hardworking, long-term contractors who have been loyal to the Constellation.

I have been working at Constellation (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent company to work for. Headquarters of parent company (Exelon) is a plus. Lots of opportunities compared to most large companies

    Cons

Employees don't care. Laziness is rampant. The industry is boring. Growing business is next to impossible. Workers are anti social.

    Advice to Management

Management is great. The industry is bad. If I were a young person I would avoid at all costs. No young person wants to be a contracted worked. Hire people as full time employees, if they prove they are good.

I worked at Constellation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work environment is relatively low-key as long as you are performing better than expectations.

    Cons

Leadership micro-manages everything except does not provide the guidance necessary for success.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend more leadership development sessions in order to properly lead their respective teams.

I worked at Constellation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good balance between work and personal life.

    Cons

A lot of inter office politics, constant delays to work, no room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Currently the company is run on many levels by the "Good-O-Boys" club. People are shuffled around and dismissed based on who is happy with them or who is unhappy with them personally, not professionally. Most of the personnel are at retirement age, but have not retired due to the looses taken to their 401k.
