    Pros

Great compensation plan, flexible work hours and good leadership. As part of a larger corporation, there are a lot of great career opportuntiies available.

    Cons

Challenging industry with a lot consolidation. Competition continues to be extremely high with no signs of change in the near term.

    Advice to Management

Keep the customer's needs a priority in our strategy and reduce middle management.

    Pros

Many chances to learn and great employee training opportunities
    Decent pay and bonus
    Not a micro-managed environments

    Cons

More emphasis placed on time with the company than actual merit
    Not many management opportunities
Slow moving IT and access request system

    Advice to Management

HR needs to stop preventing up and comers from being promoted. They weigh time of service way too heavily.

    I worked at Constellation full-time

    Pros

Overall very good place to work. Pay is above average and good bonus structure. Decent opportunity to grow into management for those interested in that path.

    Cons

Corporate environment where politics often come into play. Can also be hard to justify large pay increases when starting at a junior level and moving up to a more senior role.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that there is a structure in place which would allow for a more rapid increase in salary. For example it can be hard for a intern hired on to move up the pay scale as they advance to a more senior role.

    Pros

Passionate people. Passionate leadership. Company focused on employee growth and development if you take ownership of your own career. Good benefits. Work-life flexibility strong in certain departments.

    Cons

Baltimore-centric but getting better. Advancement challenges if you're not in a major office location.

    Advice to Management

Continue your focus on employees and developing an inclusive culture in preparation for the leaders of the future.

I have been working at Constellation full-time

Very friendly and smart people to work with, a very good experience for someone that wants to get into the energy/commodity business and learn details of pricing contracts and being part of an active market participant. Better quality of life than most big cities.

    Cons

being a utility company, Exelon is not a risk taker in energy markets.

I worked at Constellation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible workplace, GREAT benefits, telecommuting potential, location is amazing, the company is all about sports and fun! You work with some really good people who care about their employees. It's not really a hard place to work because management is so busy.

    Cons

    Not very diverse.

    Advice to Management

Take out some of the layers and get to know your staff better.

I worked at Constellation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I found that managers across the board, including my own, gave interns ample opportunities to meet and network with senior people across different departments. This is incredibly helpful as Constellation is a complicated organization with employees on the retail side doing something completely different than those on the wholesale side. In this sense, networking allowed other interns and I to see many different aspects of the company to get a true sense of the energy business.

    Cons

For the most part, interns aren't given much work or responsibility. The industry and employees can seem dull or uninterested at times.

    Advice to Management

Give interns more work and responsibility

I have been working at Constellation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent company culture. Good benefits. I was laid off when my department was eliminated, but I was allowed to stay on the payroll until I was fully vested in my 401K and Pension. I received severance pay and out placement as well, so all in all i was treated very well.

    Cons

it was hard to communicate with the folks in upper management to discuss issues we we were having in the field.

    Advice to Management

Get out in the field more often to see what issues your sales people have to deal with.
