I have been working at Construction Industry Service Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you take the initiative, the culture allows you to take your ideas forward..

    Cons

The company is big and has hands in many areas. Different BUs compete with each other.. not necessarily bad, but sometimes can cause deadlock

    Advice to Management

For important market areas, have a cohesive cross-BU architecture and strategy. More Bonus/stocks to keep talent.

Too much politics, you need to know people in order to get a perm position. They acquiring too many companies and in the end they do not know what to do.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people not the ones who knows someone.

They have gym and nice campus. Layoff package was nice.

Offshoring, layoffs, short sighted, remote offices are considered subpar.
Company is so big, hard to move up.

When you layoff entire group, try to hang on to top people who felt part of the family and sacrificed family time for work.

I worked at Construction Industry Service Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Cisco has excellent benefits and the majority of individuals are top-notch in their skill set. A team of these folks can work miracles, getting those miracles out of the working group is another story

    Cons

The fiefdoms, politics and cult of personality frequently submerge the good ideas in the corporate process never to surface. Metrics are important and no one better than Cisco as measuring them, but you have to have the appropriate metrics to foster the "right" behaaviors, frequently the metrics become the end, not the measure.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the office and meet people. Stop being virtual.

    Pros

Relaxed workplace. Great benefits, including healthcare, time off, vacations. The pay is good, but not the best in the region. I would say it is just a good place.

    Cons

The manager was not really interested in his employees. I had to talk to him several times just to get my job. But overall it is fine.
