I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Close to home, no overtime, free parking, good coffee, casual dress code.

    Cons

Poor systems, weak leadership, severe conflict among staff. No vision or strategic focus. Limited potential for career advancement. Low salary.

    Advice to Management

Address the unprofessional conduct that prevents staff from working effectively together. Conflict is rife because roles and responsibilities are poorly defined. Collaboration should be encouraged and rewarded but instead the culture is blame-centred and individualistic. Global systems are not properly configured or streamlined, so every task is unnecessarily cumbersome & inefficient.

        Pros

An awesome place to work at. Great management that are always willing to help you out with whatever you need. Friendly Coworkers.

        Cons

Reps can be a bit controlling and annoying at times but that's part of a job. If I wanted to work inside a bubble I wouldn't work at all.

        Advice to Management

Ya'll doing great! Keep up the awesomely positive working environment.

I have been working at Construction Specialties full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

The base pay is decent enough to live off. Not extremely stressful. After learning the position, the routine is very predictably and has little difference day-to-day. Able to work on your own for the most part.

        Cons

There is very little to absolutely no room for advancement in this division. The selling strategy is very limited in a very limited market. This is more of a telemarketing position then it is an inside sales position. The communication on what is happening with the company rarely transpires. The energy from management is more of a talking at instead of with the team. The morale in the office is very low with little expectations...

        Advice to Management

Allow the team to actually have a voice on how we come to market. there is only a top down approach that gives little invested interest to the corporate strategy. Put your team first instead of bending over to upper management. Have open invitations is which improvements can be made within the office to improvement productivity, teamwork, and happiness. Try to make an environment where the company has the employees...

I have been working at Construction Specialties full-time

        Pros

The family atmosphere is still prevalent despite recent HR changes. People that genuinely care about you abound, and you are definitely more than just a number here. Benefits are more than fair. The company is becoming more dynamic, and there seem to be more opportunities available definitely in an upward swing.

        Cons

Like many companies, personal preferences tend to weigh too much on goals as opposed to objectivity and evidence finding to better the business. Compensation is kind of "meh". Work from home policy for knowledge workers is blah, and "flex time" really isn't flex time.

        Advice to Management

        Put the egos away.
