I worked at Construction Specialties full-time

    Pros

    - Grille/Sunshades/Screenwall dept. was an awesome dept. -Friendly people -Great Benefits! - Great Environment and Location - Best Company to start off your career

    Cons

    - People that have worked there longer look stuck-up and cocky (there were exceptions, though) - A LOT of pressure when working to provide a proposal by the bid date!!! But you want experience right? lol -

    Advice to Management

-Don't assume that the new guys know everything - Don't assume that they've learned everything in 3 months - The Sunshade dept. was very helpful in teaching (hope they still are) Give them props. ESTIMATORS ARE NOT MACHINES lol (if you're estimating now, you'll know what that means)

I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good start for your first step in your career if you are looking into moving into a sales role.

    Cons

Communication within the company is lacking specifically upper management, would rather pay low salaries, more people than to invest in their own employees.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company culture is very friendly. This is a family owned business and the management of CS is approaching and understanding. Generally, work force is not super heavy. They are in the process to seeking further innovation.

    Cons

Mid-size company, not a super "modern" impression at first but comfortable enough. It is an international company but in the US site, you won't see a big variety yet.

    Advice to Management

    younger, newer, more efficient ,happier

I have been working at Construction Specialties full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great take off to obtain experience as an entry level estimator and move to more reputable company.

    Cons

Older management needs to move their views closer to the present. Everything is made in Mexico and then assembled in America. I guess you can call it it American made? Who knows

    Advice to Management

Move closer to create a better communication system

I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent work environment. Pay was pretty good. Nice facility

    Cons

Management is lacking people skills and leadership. They overlook bad work habits on account of racial pressure. Manual labor is in way to much excess( weight required to lift)

    Advice to Management

    Get some real leaders!

I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people you worked with were generally nice. Some have the bigger picture in mind.

    Cons

During my 2 years at the company, I saw many people get hired and fired for underperformance when they were never properly trained on how to succeed at their job. Promises were made during the hiring process that never came through and when brought up, it was pushed aside. They pay lower than many in the industry.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront and honest with your employees. Don't try to become their friend and then use that information against them later. Take a Business Ethics class.

I worked at Construction Specialties full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people that work here are great and there is a very team oriented atmosphere and the dress code is very lax.

    Cons

The turn-over is terrible. The Kennesaw office had over 20 employees leave or get fired my first year there, and there was just over 30 employees total. Pay is also well below market average, and raises and advancement are small. Not a good place to work if you are looking for career growth.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees in order to retain them, and stop the tremendous turn over rate. Also, quit talking about how great you are and blowing smoke for new employees. Be honest and tell them what the position really is about before they are hired.
