I have been working at Contemporaries, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Quick Placement
    Steady Jobs
    Reliable Contact
    Great Experience
    Friendly Contacts at Agency

    Cons

Strangely Strict Rules in Regards to Placement
Sometimes do work you should be getting paid far more for

    Advice to Management

Not much. The cons are really just for any temp agency.

I have been working at Contemporaries, Inc. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Walking distance to Silver Spring Metro, right in the middle of downtown Silver Spring, they have direct deposit, they have ways to submit one's hours online.

    Cons

Though they have an online system for submitting hours it doesn't work, they want you to bring in a hard copy of the signed time sheet after faxing or e-mailing it. They were not very discreet in handling my being let go from an assignment which was awkward for me while I was still on that assignment. When I went for my interview/test taking there, the girls working there seemed young and gossiped a lot.

    Advice to Management

Use more discretion when communicating with on-site supervisors regarding the status of a temp's assignment, go completely paperless and get your online time submission system working, and don't gossip in front of people coming in to be interviewed and tested.

I have been working at Contemporaries, Inc. (More than a year)

    Pros

They kept me in work, the assignments have been fairly long term with very short breaks between them. None of the jobs have been exceptionally difficult or exciting.

    Cons

at least one really really awful assignment.
also some of my interactions with the staff have been less than pleasant.

I worked at Contemporaries, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with me to find a good position, very responsive to issues, generally a very good experience to work for.

    Cons

The fee for hiring a temp full time discourages temp to perm.

I worked at Contemporaries, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Long lengthed temporary assignments, which is great at first.
Easy interview process, and sort of a high turn around rate.

    Cons

They do not do direct hire, which is absurd because one company wanted to hire me after my temporary assignment. And their temp-perm rules make no sense, ask them to explain it to you if you land an interview. They do not listen to your needs and sort of tell you what you want to hear even if its not true. They care more about their client connections/needs than yours. I have worked for several staffing agencies, they DO NOT pay above average.

    Advice to Management

Tell the truth. Incorporate direct-higher for your positions.

    Pros

Great place to work at, with involved and concerned management. Management was also very friendly. Hours were reasonable and the pay was good.

    Cons

Work can be slightly inconsistent. Pay was good for a temporary agency or a job just out of school, but not necessarily to make a career on.

    Advice to Management

I really liked the management - they were very involved but never micromanaged too much. They were very friendly and easy to connect with - keep that!

    Pros

nice people that were able to get me steady positions. It also paid fine for administrative work. Their office was in a convenient (Metro-accessible) location.

    Cons

They did not clearly communicate how insurance worked (something complicated, like last month's work affects this month's coverage), so I paid too much for scheduled appointments that I could have changed to a different month.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work of checking in on employees, seeing how we temps like our current place. Have your staff clearly communicate insurance benefits and check for understanding from the temps.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

They will set you up with work fairly quickly. The office personnel are friendly/

    Cons

Their placements don't correspond to a candidate's qualifications. They would call me after having intreviewed me, asking me very basic questions they should have A.)already known about me, or B.)could have easily looked at my paper file to find the answers. I felt like they didn't even know who I was.

    Advice to Management

Know those who you employ better - do a thorough interview and know their resume well.
