I have been working at Continental full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay for the area, only salary position to receive overtime

    Cons

Everything is a knee jerk reaction here , you can work days then be switched to nights at a moments notice 12 hour shifts and you work every other weekend , a lot of micro managing here. The "plan" changes hourly you never know what to expect on your next day of work. The only salary position in the plant that gets a 30 min lunch - they even give their 8 hour employees a full hour.

    Advice to Management

Please stop treating your salary workers like the maintenance crew - this job used to be interesting and inovative now we're just glorified maintenance guys

I have been working at Continental (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work! Fair and consistent, good salaries and benefits, great perks and work-life balance.

    Cons

Not necessarily a con, but it is a unionized facility which can take some getting used to if you have not worked in one before.

I worked at Continental full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Steady work and off weekends
Some what flexible hours as long as you came in early and stayed late.

    Cons

    Dysfunctional management
Lack of common business sense. Location run with an Engineering mindset and no common sense.
Running a "business" and "engineering" are two different animals however Engineering mindset runs this location.
    Horrible cafeteria food and expensive.
Very slow to change anything for the better.
Open to suggestions but they fall on deaf ears.
Older management in place who is not open to change.
Decent benefits package and excellent 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Open your minds to change and try to engage employees to improve moral.
Be receptive to new ideas to improve the location and implement the ideas.
Allow employees who can telecommute to do so a few days a month. Life isn't fair so if you're an hourly employee on the line, that's your career choice. Don't treat everyone as equal's because that's not the real world.
Don't treat salary employees as hourly employees.

I have been working at Continental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced, high volume work with multiple customer bases.

    Cons

Most of the people there are unhappy and it shows. It's very hard to be motivated at a company with such a negative employee culture. The basis of most of the production is of the mindset to make everything just good enough to get it out the door as soon as possible. Quality is sacrificed for volume of work. Also, very little room for advancement unless you want to move to China.

    Advice to Management

Put your foot down to maintain quality, and to quit shipping poor product. Why do you think there are so many automotive recalls?

    Pros

Continental is dedicated to staying on the leading edge of technology for both the global benefit and the economic benefit for consumers. They continue to look ahead even these hard economic times. The auto industry is facing lots of unknowns and Continental is taking the necessary steps to make sure they are positioned to be a leading supplier. The research and development side of operations is still busy working on developing the next generation of products. While work is still, well work.It is satisfying to know that this is a company that is willing to look out for its employees future and stay focused on what is happening now.

    Cons

Still has some old school closed minded people at the top. Not always willing to listen or share information.

    Advice to Management

Let the company run as a whole, dont keep dictating things that people know arent needed and dont help.
