    Pros

Good team work, helpful people, professional environment, and there were many other social events that made things fun as well.

    Cons

The population is a bit older, and the pace of the environment was not very fast. Other than that, it was pretty good.

I have been working at Continental Resources (Oklahoma) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    1) Job Security - Most workers remain employed, even in cyclical downturns. No "formal" layoffs.

    2) Assets - Company has outstanding assets in two industry friendly locations (ND and OK).

    3) Lean Corporate Structure - This ties back to reason number one, but a lot can be said for having little fat when times are tough in the industry. They certainly don't over-hire, unlike certain Oklahoma City-based peers.

    Cons

Pervasive underinvestment in productivity and data management infrastructure (i.e. computers, specialized industry software, servers, commercially available third-party data sets) has been an issue for years.

    Advice to Management

Everyone in town (OKC) knows through the grapevine when you start reducing staff and not giving those let go any form of severance package. We were told a leading reason management made the move from Enid, OK was how challenging it was to attract talent there. Treating veteran employees the same as new hires when they get let go for performance-based reasons and not giving them any kind of severance package during an industry downturn reflects very poorly on this company. I could name several people at leading competitors who are aware of this and would never consider working for our company because of this.
