    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Continental full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities within the organization. Able to move in different directions, as well as throughout different divisions for great career opportunities. Overall, a great place to experience any side of automotive engineering development. Plenty of support for leadership development if upward is the choice you want to follow as well.

    Cons

Large company, but for the reasons given in the Pros, this is not always a Con.

    Advice to Management

Keep focus on developing employees! It is a wonderful environment.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Continental full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The pay is not bad. The benefits are good, especially the time off. Health insurance is good, but declining at this point (2014-2015). 6% match on 401k. Wonderful, if you enjoy politics.

    Cons

Very paternalistic. All significant decisions come from Germany. Very political - if you fall out of favor, you are pretty much done. SILOS, SILOS, SILOS.

    Advice to Management

Really engage the employees, rather than all the signs, slogans, and pictures that are printed and slapped up telling us to be engaged. Also, do what you can to break down the silos that keep the groups (by country, by function, by business, etc.) separated. We aren't scary. If we were allowed to work together, it will help the company, not hurt it.

I have been working at Continental

    Pros

The environment of the workplace is casual and majority of the team are generally supportive and willing to help when it gets to the nitty gritty of work. Interesting projects to work on that typically are about a year long. Requesting time off is not difficult. Work offers garage parking - a nice bonus in the snowy Chicagoland area and there is shuttle service available to ride trains.

    Cons

Salary is not competitive. No defined career ladder or room for growth in the engineering dept. Deliverables are often tight schedule. Software quality processes are too focused on numbers, which does not necessarily reflect the quality of the software, but will impact schedules because of "paperwork".

    Advice to Management

More room/more definition of growth. Salaries need to be closer to industry average in order to be competitive with other software related fields to maintain headcount.
