I worked at Control Components full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, dedicated, want to provide specialized service to their customers. Unique product offerings for the power, oil & gas, and petro-chemical industries.

    Cons

The uniqueness of CCI has changed as it has been rebranded to IMI CCI which is trying to take control of over 120+ companies to represent a new single brand. With these types of changes from a far away leadership team, the feeling of being less important in the large picture. This also prevents the ability to progress through management as it is a much larger organization.

    Advice to Management

Push to be more people oriented as it is the people who keep the business successful. Additionally, the experienced people should be recognized and cherished. It is not just a number game.

I have been working at Control Components full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have absolutely nothing good to say about IMI CCI. Read the cons for more details about how this company really operates.

    Cons

This employer does NOT care about its employees. If you want to be treated as just another number, then come work for CCI. There's been a lot of corporate changes over the past three years that have really effected the morale and productivity of this company. Not being valued or listened to has impacted me directly, there is NO voice of the employee. They don't care what has happened to you within your working environment. All they care about is making money.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and take them seriously.

I worked at Control Components (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay seems to be fairly good.

    Cons

After the DOJ clampdown after the conviction of top company officials for bribery, this company can barely function. Every quote, sale, shipment is reviewed by attorney's for legality. This is a dead end job for most people.

    Advice to Management

Management is afraid of IMI Corporate in the UK.

I have been working at Control Components full-time

    Pros

Great valve products, good technical support staff. Application engineers do a good job supporting outside sales.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement from the parent company IMI. They require unreasonable levels of accuracy in forecasting activities. Multiple layers of approval bogs down the outside sales team.

    Advice to Management

IMI needs to accept feedback from customers. Empower the sales team to do its job. Less micromanagement

I have been working at Control Components full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the best valve, application, and system minds in the industry. Solid Valve Doctor program ensures this will continue. Excellent product and top-notch technical resources. Good office location. Strong safety program. Still some good people who care about each other and success of the company.

    Cons

IMI (CCI's parent) has brought micromanagement to a new level. Local CCI managers and leadership are no longer free to run the business. IMI makes every decision, no matter how small, through stacks of reports and decks pushed to them continuously. Less and less time is spent doing work that adds value as most everyone from the manager level up spends at least 3/4 of their time preparing reports, presentations and justifications for every action and decision.

Wages have stagnated (dropped on an inflation-adjusted basis) for the past five years and local management will not act. Benefits are eroding continuously and good people are leaving as a result. Management is in denial. Despite record profits and cash reserves, relentless cost-cutting continues to the level of the absurd. Local senior management are scared to death of losing their jobs and puts on a show for IMI worthy of an Academy Award. The level of politics from the manager level up is staggering. Any decision to spend money or initiate a new program is made based on how happy it will make IMI rather than how good it will be for the business. Push-back is not tolerated at any level, a fact to which past local leadership can attest. The few opportunities available above "individual contributor" level result in much more reporting/presenting and very little additional compensation.

    Advice to Management

IMI: Sell severe service to a competent parent now before you do more damage and drive the value lower.

I worked at Control Components full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company actually cares that you have a great work/life balance. The company follows a very strict ethical way of conducting business and it instills this in their employees. It is a very safety conscious company and the staff is a great group of people to work with.

    Cons

I believe the company is sometimes stuck in neutral due to the leadership of IMI.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing on the local level as you are a great leadership team!

I worked at Control Components full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are like family and will work hard to assist anyone who requires help.

    Cons

Management changed in 2011 and the changes were made without seeking experienced long term employees suggestions of what worked and what didn't work in our business. The new management team came from GE who were not familiar with our industry. Their changes disrupted the business and their new policies didn't work. Had they listened to past experiences they could have saved a lot of trial & error and heart ache.

    Advice to Management

Really listen to suggestions and evaluate pros/cons of possible outcome before making permanent SOPs.

I worked at Control Components full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Charismatic leadership and hardworking teams in engineering, production, sales, and management.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunities to move up due to a low turn over at management levels.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and actually talk to them before decisions are made whether it be leadership or where their career is going. There is a perception that the management team globally does not always take into account the long term impact of decisions.

    Pros

Everyone here WANTS to do a god job, contribute and make the company be the best in the industry. Very team oriented people from the mid-level management on down only.

Good for new college grad to start work and gain experience.... but don't stay.

    Cons

Upper level managment within CCI and up to the IMI Directors are not in tune with what really needs to be done to make CCI profitable again. Too many changes within a short time frame. Expansion to Europe and India hurt the company and the moral of US employees, where CCI started.. in the US.

Layoffs are normal solution to meet the dollars over improving processes and tools being used.

    Advice to Management

Repleace the xGE Healthcare upper managment people with those who know the industry, such as those whom have worked here at CCI many years.
