    "Great Merch Job"

I have been working at Convergence Marketing part-time

    Pros

Varied jobs throughout the year with Cosmetic Resets being the mainstay. Love the flexibility. Can always turn down a job if it doesn't work for you. Some cosmetic resets can be long days, but you can finish them on a second day. I have a great Area Manager. easy to work for. Allows me to manage my own schedule. I have worked for them 4-5 years. Each year the communication for the jobs gets better.

    Cons

work can be inconsistant...it is not a routine job. August and December can slow down a bit but I like that. Some jobs don't have detailed instruction, but that is true for the industry.

I have been working at Convergence Marketing

    Pros

During the busiest season, you can get assigned 13 hours shifts if you're lucky. My first paycheck was a good one.

    Cons

Favoritism as far as who gets what hours. I've been working one shift every 10 to 15 days for the past month. Yet everyone else seems to be getting at least two days weekly. The team leader I "trained" with wouldn't show me how to do anything; just did it herself when I asked how to do something. She wouldn't explain important details, then would insult me for not knowing what to do (this is on my second day, mind you...

I worked at Convergence Marketing for less than a year

    Pros

Offer better than most on hourly rates; Will assign an extensive workload after Area Manager sees that Merchandiser can do the job.

    Cons

Does NOT adhere to mileage compensation either posted in manual or promised individually. Merchandisers do not have the option to accept or decline assignments; cannot schedule projects for whichever day you may chose. Must complete assignments only on days specified by Area Managers. No training at all. You better already be a Merchandiser before you accept this position

    "Used to like them...now don"

I have been working at Convergence Marketing

    Pros

When I reviewed this company back in September, I mostly enjoyed working for them. I had a good area manager (still have her) and the work was somewhat plentiful (which it still is). The work I've done has mostly been either one of two things: resets for cosmetics (or for gift cards in convenience stores) or continuity work in box stores. At times there are projects (like around Halloween or Christmas). I'm not sure...

    Cons

The company has changed their policy for travel and I know that my manager seems to feel she tries her best to get her reps a "fair" rate. But to me it isn't fair that what used to be a $50 trip now pays $35....or a $75 trip pays $60. If my husband and I traveled together to do cosmetic resets, we each got the $50 for the trip even though we shared one vehicle. This last time, I received $41 ($35 plus a bit for travel...

    Advice to Management

Rethink your travel incentive for reps who travel a lot. I understand that you need to tighten expenses somewhere but this was not the way to do it. To the people considering this company: If you're going to stay in your own little town and just do work there - then Convergence is ok to work for. My area manager is great at communication and she's awesome to work with. But if you are willing to travel because...

    Pros

Hmmm...I would say flexibility and decent pay. Apparently you can choose which assignments you want and reject the ones you don't, but be careful. Not accepting an assignment (even if initially it was someone else's), could get you canned. Instantly.

    Cons

Where do I begin? First of all, there is no training whatsoever. There is a 30 minute conference call you have to listen in on before your first assignment, but that's it. If you don't know how to work their computer portal, read your assignments, or aren't sure how to submit your reports - too bad. Oh that's ok, you think. I'll just call my Area Manager, he/she will help me....

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to train your merchandisers. Expecting employees to go into the assignments completely blind is very very poor business acumen. The lower Midwest territory desperately needs a better area manager, at least one who answers the phone and her emails. Maybe even one that's a little friendly and supports her employees. If you must send more than one employee to an overnight project, bite the bullet and...

I have been working at Convergence Marketing

    Pros

the only pro is alot of project work if your supervisor likes you.

    Cons

This was the worst job I have ever worked for. The area managers and their supervisor lie and lie just to get what they want. They worked me 60 hour weeks without over time pay or any recognition. As I was loaded they asked for more from me such as traveling the next day three hours away while getting my assignments done on time. They promised me a raise and I never received...

    Advice to Management

Quit lying and be more professional. Communicating better and employee recognition needs work. Hire a supervisor that can do their job right by the handbook and not on their own terms.

I have been working at Convergence Marketing part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I enjoy my job I feel with experience and hard work you get a lot of assignments there is always something to do. I have a great area manager and there is always great communication via phone and email. I love the schedule and the flexibility.

    Cons

the only con i have is all the paper work it's too much and overwhelming there has to be an easier way.

    Advice to Management

Make it clear for employees how to advance to management positions. It would be nice to know what steps are needed to move up within the company. Also, please figure out a better way to report there is so much paperwork at least for the small assignments that are for an hour or two.

I have been working at Convergence Marketing part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible schedule, depending on your location from home close jobs plus a door fee if traveling out of your location.

    Cons

Never able to talk via landlines to Area Manager can't talk to Regional Manager no number to call.

    Advice to Management

Manager should be available to help with problems that arise in the morning, not be sleeping @ home or work till 5pm. Last management should be able to visit and interact with convergence employees and listen to the issues at hand. Stop the confusion listen.

I have been working at Convergence Marketing part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It's a job. Cosmetics resets are fun.

    Cons

A lot of time is spent doing things you aren't compensated for. i.e. paperwork, driving from job to job, watching required videos. Management is clueless as to what really goes on in the field. Getting the proper tools to complete a job can be a struggle. Communication is lacking. As someone else stated, the area manager can make or break you depending how they feel about...

    Advice to Management

Go in the field more. Make surprise visits to the resets. The teams would appreciate seeing you. At least pretend to care about the people in the field.
