I worked at Convergent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    I cannot think of one.

    Cons

Management is awful. They are completely unorganized, and even if you have a group of representatives complaining about the same issues, nothing gets done. This is just ONE of the reasons why people do not stay here.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key. If supervisors did that, there would be less confusion on the floor.

I have been working at Convergent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job responsibilities are very diverse, allowing the incumbent to learn something new each day. Get to manage and develop a large group of exempt and nonexempt employees and deal with a diverse group of clients.

    Cons

Low margin business. So resources are a bit limited. Training and development are also spotty across the organization.

    Advice to Management

Improve pay and benefits, as well as the work environment. Devote more resources to development of the management team.

I have been working at Convergent full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job. If you're looking to get a full time job ASAP, then you've got it. They literally hire ANYONE WITH A PULSE. No experience required. Also, the benefits are actually decent.

    Cons

Training is supposed to be two weeks. But the trainer always goes on "vacation" after the 2nd week. So you're basically sitting in the classroom unsupervised until IT finishes setting up your computer, then they throw you out on the floor. Once you're out there, you'll learn that all of the information you wasted time trying to memorize, has either changed or was never accurate in the first place. Supervisors, including HR and upper management, are GHETTO. They do not know how to talk to people. Supervisors never want to take supervisor calls, they just place the consumer on hold until they get tired of waiting and just hang up on their own. They have a stupid schedule that requires you to work 11a-8pm two nights a week. Employees are doing and/or selling drugs in the parking lot during break, and even FIGHTING. Commission is a huge JOKE, because you literally make pennies on the dollar. You have to make 200 calls daily, with 150 of those calls being hang ups, wrong numbers, or you getting cursed out by consumers! They claim to have over 4 million accounts, but we call the same people DAILY. They LIE to you in the interview, making you think this job will change your life, because you'll make up to 6 figures yearly. PLEASE! If it weren't for your hourly pay, you'd be living under a bridge. Computers are slow. You have to show up at least 30 minutes early, just to give the timeclock program enough time to load up! I could go on and on....

    Advice to Management

Just throw the whole company away and start over.

I have been working at Convergent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to get your hands on a variety of technologies.

    Cons

    Extremely poor Executive IT leadership.
CIO constantly displays extremely poor morals and lacks no no integrity
HR is comfortable with and continues to support this type of reckless behavior .
Has absolutely no concern for employees.
Business will surely be negatively impacted by this and is only a matter of time before the company collapses because of it.

    Advice to Management

The worst thing Tracey Carpentier can do is retain Sameer Maini as CIO of Account Control Technologies and Convergent. This goes beyond well his job ability, Sameer Maini is simply a poor example of a human being. Toxie Case should easily be promoted to CIO.

I have been working at Convergent full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a quick job if you need it. They hire anyone.

    Cons

No room for advancement if you don't know upper management do not expect to be promoted. It's all about who you know here. Supervisors make reps train people without paying you for it and with no intention of promoting you. The majority of Leads and Supervisors they have in place do not want to help. They are more concerned about gossiping and discussing what's for lunch. They move the least productive collectors to monitor calls and they don't do it correctly. Some people are allowed to keep their post-dates when switching departments while others do not. They do not value the collection staff they have. Supervisors argue, use profanity, and many talk to their employees like dogs. No motivation. Some departments have to cover there salary to bonus, while others do not. Unrealistic goals. Managers and supervisors are not consistent as a management team. HR lady is extremely rude unprofessional and unapproachable. Two of the managers hold grudges against certain reps. Too many employees and not enough help. No one to report office problems to because everyone in management is friends and management is notorious for retaliation.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. Value those you have. Stop worrying about what people do outside of work and promote the ones who deserve it and care to make a difference.

I recently left Convergent for a position after finishing my degree. Convergent was a great place to work. Employees were very friendly and always welcoming. The managers at the Peoria office were supportive and always willing to help when needed.
