I worked at Convergys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was decent, nice break room with food, training was fun. Good incentives, at first at least. Sometimes they had fun sponsors come out.

    Cons

Felt like I was being herded through the department. I was trained, then on the job for three weeks, then they told me I was to be trained on customer retention. So training for another two weeks and put in something i did not sign up for initially. I soon became pretty miserable dealing with multiple bosses and pretty irate and idiotic customers. Then I just left. Then they closed that branch.

    Advice to Management

Make it a more stable and close knit environment. I felt like I was in a sweat shop.

I worked at Convergys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Money is the main for me. I was also able to learn a lot about technology. Your mind will be filled with knowledge after leaving this job.

    Cons

Favorites in management. Every worker must be treated the same. That's what makes a company grow. Get to it Convergys.

    Advice to Management

    Treat every worker the same.

I worked at Convergys (More than a year)

    Pros

Walk in interviews and quick hiring.
    some good managers and coworkers.
good stop gap job (for the short term).

    Cons

    Poor compensation and benefits.
    Training was inadequate.
    Paychecks were short/messed up.
There used to be a shift differential, management phased it out.
Favoritism is big in the company (if management likes you, you're fine. If they don't like you, expect abuse until you quit or are fired).
Advancement opportunities are nonexistent (unless management likes you).
No work/life balance. You literally have to be available 24/7/365, and your schedule can change at any moment (with or without notice).
    Equipment did not work well.
Some managers were abusive (i.e., bullies).
    Highly stressful job.
Some customers were horrible to deal with.
Performance metrics were never clear and difficult to meet.
Company policies changed frequently and were poorly communicated.
Raises are very low to nonexistent.
    High turnover.
Management knows nothing about labor law, business ethics, and contract law.
Facilities were rotten (poor parking, building was filthy, poor ventilation in the building).
    Strict dress code.
Things were so bad that some employees wanted to unionize.
Right before the tax abatements and government subsidies expired, Convergys closed the call center and moved operations out of the country.

    Advice to Management

Honor your commitments to state and local governments. State and local governments are not investing in you so that you can pack up and leave less than four years later.
    Treat your employees better.
Practice good ethics and be socially responsible.
    Fire toxic managers.

I have been working at Convergys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great PTO which includes Vacation & Sick Time. Great 401K Match also.

    Cons

No Job Stability - Continuously threatening that at least project you are working on if not the whole site, will be closing. Upper Management does not listen to employees. His way or the highway. Even with Clients that contract for Convergys to take there calls.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what employees and even Clients are trying to tell you and maybe you could keep projects. Also screen who you are hiring better. Too many fights & smart mouthed kids employed here.

I have been working at Convergys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People who work there are generally friendly. Facilities are nice.

    Cons

Lousy management to the point of incompetence. Company policies seem to change week to week. Training is base, at best, and is very disorganized at least for Dell. Convergys expects the businesses under its wing to all operate the same and it is not possible. The pay is absolute trash, especially since the cost of living in Florida is ever rising. Good luck trying to support yourself without another job. Depending on which line of business you work for, the hours are also no good. Demand for overtime is always happening but may change on a whim. The "benefits" come as very costly insurance. Given that the pay is already low, the insurance takes out quite a big chunk out of that already low paycheck. Employees are basically nothing but a "resource" and are treated as such....meaning that everyone there is a throw-away asset, no matter how long they have been working there. Most do not seem to make it past a year.

    Advice to Management

Get REAL management, and not people who rely solely on knee-jerk reactions to make management decisions. Also, though this is a "woman-owned" company, it would be better to hire managers based on merit rather than gender. Current upper management there is absolutely clueless and makes decisions based on numbers alone rather than what the cause of those numbers are. This ensures that no problems are ever really solved. Stop managing like you have something to "prove" and just manage like you care about the company and your employees. Otherwise you will always have a high turn-over rate.

I worked at Convergys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay for an entry job.

    Cons

    Management apathetic to employee's concerns
Blame is always passed down regardless of involvement
Management has no idea what is required of the technical field
    Pay is lower than most
"Incentives" are things like candy bars for meeting metrics
    No job is safe
Refuses to work with you on scheduling
    Targeted reprimanding of FMLA employees

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Upper management has no idea what they are doing in the technical field. They have no understanding of necessary tools and fail to provide support.

    Advice to Management

Give help when needed and stop acting like your above everyone.

I worked at Convergys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked with several cool people, a lot of them I went to high school with. The only redeeming quality was my manager I had. She was pleasant, and fun to work for which made driving over half an hour to get to work on a daily basis worth it

    Cons

Their pay scale was/is a joke, they never did anything as true incentives to get you to push sales i.e. no commission pay, they hit you with attendance points for agreeing to head home early when call volume was low, they lie to you about family importance. My mom had I heart attack while I was going through their training. I am a single father with custody of my kids that I have had for a long time, and they docked me points and wanted to fire me due to my needing to stay home to care for my children and my physically ill father (while he was alive) while my mom was in the hospital. They have had multiple lawsuits against them for shortchanging employees hourly pay due to their computer programs slowing their systems down to the point where I was always counted late.

    Advice to Management

    DONT WORK THERE

    Pros

If you don't want to take your job seriously or be taking serious at work then this is the job for you.

    Cons

Miss-information (lies) is not how a company should be run.

    Advice to Management

Fix recruiting Miss-informing about the job is a bad way to start out in a company. Fix training systems do not just leave the system with no useful information.
