I worked at Convergys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fairly regular work hours. Great health care benefits. Consistent pay with opportunities to earn bonuses. Good Training- I learned how to improve the customer service experience. (These skills translate well to other lines of business). I Learned also how to mitigate more effectively contentious situations with better word choices to de-escalate problems with customers.

    Cons

The company has an extremely rigorous performance metrics system in place to evaluate employee performance. And, many times, the metrics are in direct conflict with one another so it's impossible to excel in one category without lowering the performance in another category. This system creates a situation where the management will always have a legitimate reason to limit or eliminate the employee's bonuses and issue demerits with consequences. After a certain period of time, employees burn out, leave the job or get fired. So, there's an extremely high turnover rate that appears to be accounted for in the company's business model.

    Advice to Management

Have reasonable expectations, not ones that are impossible to attain.

I worked at Convergys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome coworkers and managers, great motivating team based environment. Pay was decent if the bonus was available. Good training.

    Cons

At first it was a plus, working towards better metrics to get a monthly bonus. I'm highly competitive, had me on the carrot on a stick. Pushed and pushed, eventually I burned out. Upper management tweaked the metrics monhly ever so slightly so it was less and less likely a bonus would happen. No more carrot, making less doing the same job.

    Advice to Management

Work with your employees. Keep developing people.

I worked at Convergys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My team leader was an amazing person who had our backs and supported us through an otherwise terrible job

    Cons

    Where do I begin....

Upper management show very little respect to their agents. You feel like you can't even go to the bathroom or for a cup of water without being pulled up and given out to. Some of them are so full of themselves and really need a reality check - they act like the call center is the glue that holds the world together

They would sometimes only give you your schedule with less than a weeks notice meaning you can never make plans outside work...its like they don't understand agents have lifes outside work

They constantly change the ways in how they operate and its your own fault if you can't read their minds. For instance they constantly flip flopped on how they want you to order new equipment or handle a complaint and once you got used to doing it one way, they would then change it!

The lack of appliances in the canteen...no wifi in the canteen...no healthy options for lunch

If you get stuck on a call and have to stay after your shift ends you don"t get paid or that time back but godforbid you are 1 minute late back from lunch

The rate of pay is abysmal and instead of listening to their employees asking for some pay rise they just started some committee to give out free sweets once and awhile...thats how they think they hold onto staff

    Advice to Management

Instead of giving us out a bag with 6 jellies in it every 3 months as part of the r and r scheme, just raise the pay and maybe you'll have a staff willing to stay
