I worked at Convergys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's really tough to come up with something here. However, it did provide a paycheck (granted a very small one) until I could find a "real" job. People don't retire from there. The majority of the people are only there for weeks, or months at the most. By the time classroom training is completed, the classes have diminished from 20 to 10. Then it's time to hit the floor, with the majority of the class leaving shortly after that.

    Cons

Probably the hardest part was dealing with the management. They lie to everyone, telling them about the potential big $ that could be earned. People never see that money. They sent NUMEROUS messages out prior to, and including the day of the NFL Sunday Ticket kick-off, promising an additional $20 for anyone that worked at least 2 hours overtime that day, along with additional bonuses, and overtime if you went over 40 hours. However, during that big day, when questioning them about it, they stated "Oh, I didn't know that was being sent out, that was a mistake". Yet they continued to send it out the whole time I was there, which was several more hours. That's just one example, and there are many more like that. Nothing but empty promises! Oh, but if you made a sale that day, and you raised your hand to let them know, they would have someone stop by your desk to offer you a bite-size piece of candy. Woo-hoo, that will pay the bills! But, of course, since you weren't allowed ANY food at your desk, you weren't allowed to eat it then.

They keep pushing and pushing everyone, adding more responsibilities and requirements to the job, threatening to fire you if you don't comply. They treat you like you're 5 years old with their ridiculous rules and restrictions. Of course, they blame it on their customer, who supposedly enforces these rules. But yet, if you talk to their customer, they refer you back to Convergys.

Not to mention them wanting experienced people, but only wanting to start out with a whopping $7.25/hour. And if you're good, you can get a whopping .10 cent/hour increase every so often... wow!

That was the most miserable job I've ever had in my entire life! I felt freedom the day I was finally able to leave that place, and I've never looked back.

    Advice to Management

Quit lying to employees, and lighten up on the pressure and restrictions.
