I have been working at Convergys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great commission, a lot of OT, great people, good training, great benefits. A lot of opportunities.

    Cons

Upper management has no idea how to treat their employees. I question how the managers got their position. They have no people skills and interrogate and intimated rather than lead and motivated. Most tl are ok but the operation managers just don't have management skills. They need to be trained on how to treat employees. They fire people left and right and they don't have the skills to change and motivate an agents performance. They think by holding accountability conversations that will change performance it does not work.

There are no "Pros" to working at Convergys.

    Cons

Where to begin, it is 26/7 crises management, no advancement opportunities, upper management lies to you to your face. Avoid this place, keep your sanity. There is no work/life balance.

I have been working at Convergys full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Ability to advance if you show potential and interest.

    Cons

Not an employee focused company. GM is all that matters, and often the real issue is overlooked. Talent Acquisition is often overworked and are measured on 7 day retention. Training is often so busy training back to back classes that no real development occurs. Operations is lead by many VPs and Directors who lack analytical and methodologies that fix problems. They are incapable of rolling up their sleeves and really understanding the problem, they manage from the top down. Most agents are underpaid, along with Team Leaders, Operations Managers and Senior Managers. Most of Operations has to work more than 40 hours to be successful, with little guidance and support from upper management. Most programs have no analytics support and are required to figure things out. A lot is asked but very little given to the peons while Directors and above are always given bonuses, travel budget and etc. When cutting costs, they rather look at facilities and cut cleaning, window washing, morale building activities and incentives. They focus so much on fixing problems, rather than being proactive by sending leadership for training, i.e. six sigma, but expect most managers to be able to complete RCA. The mission and values do not match what is done within the company. Convergys has settled for mediocre performance and they are ok with losing top talent because of their pay structure and ridiculous expectations. They also love to fire people to save money.

I have been working at Convergys full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Steady hours -Benefits -Somewhat clean work stations -Ample parking -Clean Bathrooms -Storage for personal affects during shifts

    Cons

This place is all about cons. The higher ups are in a buddy buddy relationship and everyone else is only a target. If one decides they do not like you, they all do not like you. The newest operations manager at our site will not even address people he does not like. It is rude and very unprofessional to those that are trying to meet and hope to move up. High retention due to the lack of respect and reward to those that try to work. You get little say in your schedule and your Team Leader if you get a good one will put up a fight for you though in the end they will lose and so will you. The company also penalizes you for the smallest things, myself with a disability get attendance violations because they use an offsite company for dealing with medical leave needs. If you take an extra few moments for a break punished. All while upper management constantly take extra breaks or walk around the building chatting. It sets a very unfair balance between the workers and the management team.

I worked at Convergys full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really the same with majority of the companies out there, you make friends and relationships with a lot of intellectual individuals from different backgrounds, that was the best part of the job right there. There weren't many pros to the company besides the decent human beings you got to work with that made the 8 hour work day easier to deal with.

    Cons

From day one, you're pretty much thrown to the wolves and whoever makes the cut makes it. The Dell floor back when I was there was split into teams of 6 or more engineers and at that time there was probably a handful of managers that actually cared about you as an employee. They're constantly being squeezed by upper-management to in a way bring down the hammer on their team, no input for decisions that are made were ever brought to engineers. It's was more of a dictatorship than anything else. Managers are pressured to micromanage employees about the smallest things one can think of. I witnessed multiple hiring classes for Dell come in and upper-management would use that extra man power to fire people that they didn't like so around this time, you'd get pulled aside for your performance and it was a game of the chopping block everyday..who gets walked. You weren't treated like an adult, if anything it felt like a large prison where one side was your seniors and the other side were kids right out of high school who walked like to work like they'd just crawled out of bed. Advancement opportunities were preached during training and put all over the recruitment advertisement but, the possibility of someone getting promoted was slim to none. You are being contracted so you're getting a chuck of your pay taken out per hour, Dell Engineers working for corporate make over $22/hr while you'll only make $15. That $7 an hour adds up. I would avoid the place all together unless you absolutely need the money

    Pros

Good hardworking people to work around

    Cons

Terrible pay for the level of skill the job requires Extra effort is not recognized or rewarded People do not get promoted based on skill or resume - must know the right people Overall company looks at agents as pure numbers not as a person Constructive feedback is not taken well for improvement from upper management VP's are absolutely clueless in running successful sites unless oversees Oversees invest more into their employees than they invest in US based

I have been working at Convergys full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Easy to move up; they promote phone staff to management fairly quickly if they are competent and willing to do the job - Great place to get management experience without any prior experience - Paid training - Paid time off - If you are phone staff rather than management, there is a lot of overtime available for those who want it. Also, when high call volume is expected they give a lot of cash or prize incentives to work extra hours, on top of the overtime pay (big screen TVs, game systems, extra $100 if you do 20 hours of overtime in a week, etc...) - They pay 80% of your health, vision, and dental insurance, plus 401K matching and life insurance.

    Cons

    - The workload requires more than 40 hours a week, it's more like 50-60 hours, and of course there is no overtime pay since it's a salaried position - Very high turnover means frequent changes in upper management and conflicting expectations - Incredibly stressful environment and verbally abusive customers

    Pros

Awesome coworkers and managers, great motivating team based environment. Pay was decent if the bonus was available. Good training.

    Cons

At first it was a plus, working towards better metrics to get a monthly bonus. I'm highly competitive, had me on the carrot on a stick. Pushed and pushed, eventually I burned out. Upper management tweaked the metrics monhly ever so slightly so it was less and less likely a bonus would happen. No more carrot, making less doing the same job.
