Customer Service Position at Convergys
Apr 9, 2018 - Customer Service Representative in Pittsburgh, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Higher paying customer service position.
Cons
Favoritism was a BIG, BIG problem, leads and supervisors would openly promote their friends when new positions became available while never even notifying the rest of the staff about the new positions that were open, so for many workers there was never an opportunity for advancement. This meant qualified good customer service employees would leave the company and be replaced with less qualified, lazy employees who were inferior performers which led to more work and frustration for the reliable employees. Work life balance was poor because schedules and shifts were changed often. Favoritism played a role in the schedules employees were given. Seating arrangements were also changed, sometimes as many as four times in one year so it was hard to become comfortable. Many leads were eagerly encouraged to be difficult, humiliating and intimidating to subordinates and this lead to low employee morale and poor job performance; the leads and supervisors who spoke up against this normalized company treatment were embarrassed with demotion and then termination. And the subordinates who spoke up against this were told they were treated badly because they deserved it. Micromanaging is another big area of concern for this company. When bathroom breaks were needed employees were embarrassed because they were required to get a lead or supervisor approval and the bathroom break was timed. If the break was longer than two minutes the employee was written up and given a termination warning. Monthly evaluations were given and employees were threatened with termination if their call and procedural quotas didn't meet difficult and unrealistic expectations. The higher pay did not out way the low morale employees felt working for this company.
