I have been working at Cook Biotech full-time

    Pros

Family environment of dedicated people working to discover, develop, and deliver life changing products. Focus is on doing what is best for the patient. All levels of management encourage a healthy and positive work/life balance.

    Cons

Being part of a highly regulated industry requires a high level of detailed procedures and documentation. For those directly processing the animal derived products, work can be unpleasant.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on patient well being and employee encouragement.

I worked at Cook Biotech for less than a year

    Pros

People are generally approachable. The company hosts several events throughout the year. They carew about product quality.

    Cons

There are too many engineers for the amount of work available. Pay is far below average for the industry. Projects take too long to complete because management will take weeks or months to sign paperwork. There is no acknowledgement of hard work completed . For a young engineer, you will not have many opportunities for development or growth. This is a company where you will spend a few years early in your career to bolster...

    Advice to Management

Just be there. Provide guidance. Reward hard work. Actually ask your employees why they are leaving the company instead of acting like they do not exist once they give notice.

I worked at Cook Biotech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Easy work, friendly people, good benefits, good managers.

    Cons

Pay is insultingly low for production. You can make more working for a retail or restaurant chain in the long run. Hours are 6am to 330pm so you can't work a second job unless you want to loose sleep or, have no social or family life. They offer to help pay for school, but you wont be able to actually attend school aside from maybe a night class or two a week. You won't be able to graduate unless you do a 100% online...

    Advice to Management

If you want a retention rate for new hires to last more than 1 to 5 days you will have to pay more and have a reasonable schedule. A 1 bedroom apartment runs 550-600 on the low end and basic utilities run aprox. 120. That's more than a pay check for 2 weeks work and that's not including food and other necessities like a phone bill, car payment, car insurance and gas to get to work.

    I worked at Cook Biotech

    Pros

Great place to work, good people. This is a great place to start your career as you get lots of exposure to different things. Your skill sets will grow as they invest heavily in employees

    Cons

A lot of companies have have similar problems but the biggest one here is salary. They run what I call here as the body shopper model. Most top management people are not bad but they have just not worked anywhere else so don't have perspective of outside world.

I have been working at Cook Biotech full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This company is very family oriented. There are a lot of activities that include the whole family. I really enjoy the atmosphere.

    Cons

If you want a chance for upward mobility/promotions/supervisor roles you have to have a college degree. People have been informed that they will not be able to go any further with their career until they obtain a college education.

    Advice to Management

See potential in employees that my not have a college education. A degree does not necessary mean that the person will be suited/not suited for a job. If an employee has potential, take advantage of it!
