I have been working at Cooper Industries as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the people are very friendly. The work is interesting and fast paced. Flexible hours if you work in the "front office" section.

    Cons

The company can be extremely slow to hire you on if you come in as a contractor. As with most companies, when things take a down-turn some people start looking for others to place the blame on.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the basics of what worked in the recent past.

I worked at Cooper Industries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Cooper has a large facility in Peachtree City which was the corporate headquarters for their lighting business. It was a great place to learn and grow professionally.

    Cons

Cooper Industries was acquired by Eaton in 2012, so I'm not sure how the business currently operates.

    Pros

They have an excellent benefits package and flexible hours.

    Cons

They do not have a good salary brand.

    Advice to Management

Work better with employees and work on expanding a salary brand for devote employees.

    Pros

Each individual on the inside team is very helpful, willing to bend over backwards in times of need.

    Cons

Workload was the biggest challenge as there is no established "workflow" or procedure in working with manufacturers representatives as well as outside sales. This in turn has a direct effect on quality which at times has been atrocious.

    Advice to Management

Hire more more people, the skeleton crew model does not cut it. This will allow for better communication with all stakeholders & improved quality.

I have been working at Cooper Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tons of hours and plenty of money. Definitely paid pretty decent.

    Cons

No time for a life. And unless you brownose your way around and get in good you'll never be picked for better jobs. If your great at your job then you'll never get away from it. Smart but a hinder to personal growth.

    Advice to Management

I can only say there are some really awesome people there that do a great job and then there are a bunch pompous fools that are completely out of touch with reality and have zero people skills.

I have been working at Cooper Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The office area looks nice and is well laid out. Employees are fun to work with and have a good personality. Upper management has improved a lot in 2014.

    Work-life balance is good.

    Cons

The computers, software, and networks which are critical to the business are horribly slow at times, outdated, and neglected. The hiring process is sometimes questionable.

    Advice to Management

    See above.
