    Pros

Work hard, see results, be rewarded.
    Incredible Leadership Development Program.
    Pure meritocracy.

    Cons

Very conservative on pay, being so lean in number of personnel made for some difficulties in promotions, sometimes too focused on bottom line and not enough on the people.

    Advice to Management

As the company has been sold, this isn't relevant. They put the company in the right position, enabled us to succeed and were ultimately convinced that to stay relevant we needed to merge into a larger organization.

    Pros

Advanced Leadership training + best practices for practice area leaders. On-going education + training opportunities for all. True desire to operate towards excellence. Innovative thinking for product development.

    Cons

Eaton Corporation acquired Cooper Power Systems in 2015. Made pre-mature decisions [human + product + services] during the integration process. Did not have a true desire to operate toward excellence.

    Advice to Management

Learn more about an "individual" of the organization you just acquired, their job function, their cross-functional roles and influences, and how they fit into the legacy Operating Plan [and new market penetration strategies] before you eliminate the position because you feel the "job tile" of the individual is a duplicate to the existing Eaton Team.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for advancement. Global company with manufacturing operations everywhere.

    Cons

Like most multi-national companies, matrix organization can make change slow to tedious.

I worked at Cooper Industries (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked at Cooper before and after their acquisition by Eaton Corporation. Cooper was an awesome company with great leaders, a great culture and good benefits.

    Cons

Culture changed when acquired by Eaton. Too many committees now and red tape. Hard to get anything done.

    Advice to Management

Management is all gone, so any advice I could give would fall on deaf ears.

    Pros

Great position for new college graduates

    Cons

Sink-or-swim and on-the-job training. Management assumes you know how to deal with Corporate America

    Pros

Excellent dedicated workforce of rank & file employees. Most have a very good attidude, and are welcoming to new workers. Very honest.

    Cons

Management tends to take credit for the hard work employees and contract employees have done, even though it is known the reasons for that hard work being necessary was due to bad decisions by mangement. Contract employees MUST wear an orange vest, looking like a Cal-Trans worker, anytime on the premesis (a form of "this person is not one of US"). Very little chance of advancement.

    Advice to Management

Stop "saving money" by hiring Contract Employees, do your own legwork, and hire people who WANT to be part of a team. Contract Employees never are allowed to do that.

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Cooper Industries full-time

    Pros

Can't think of many. Some good people in the engineering department.

    Cons

Meaningless work driven by meaningless deadlines, zero chances for promotion/pay increases, major game-playing with benefits, etc etc.

    Advice to Management

    Get new management.
