    Pros

The majority of the production team cared about doing a good job although they were not rewarded during their reviews. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives.

    Cons

Managers were rewarded for not being honest about actual metric. Plant manager encouraged "creative" reporting with no real effort to improving processes. Employee morale was very low making it difficult to obtain new ideas and get their buy-in.

    Advice to Management

The truth is not your enemy.

    Pros

Great culture. Corporate allow plant autonomy while still having overall oversight of KPIs.

    Cons

Sold to Eaton. I am unsure of Eaton's culture as I have never worked there. Cooper Industries was a wonderful work environment. Hopefully that continues under Eaton.

    Advice to Management

Allow plant autonomy while maintaining oversight. Understand that not all locations have the same exact requirements nor are at the same level of empowerment in the culture.

    Cons

Such a negative atmosphere management constantly harassing with tacky business oppression not much opportunity, little appreciation, too much safety

    Advice to Management

Quit oppressing your employees, despite having a great company that umbrellas you, the mid management needs change

    Pros

Cooper has a large facility in Peachtree City which was the corporate headquarters for their lighting business. It was a great place to learn and grow professionally.

    Cons

Cooper Industries was acquired by Eaton in 2012, so I'm not sure how the business currently operates.

I have been working at Cooper Industries full-time

    Pros

They have an excellent benefits package and flexible hours.

    Cons

They do not have a good salary brand.

    Advice to Management

Work better with employees and work on expanding a salary brand for devote employees.

    Pros

Each individual on the inside team is very helpful, willing to bend over backwards in times of need.

    Cons

Workload was the biggest challenge as there is no established "workflow" or procedure in working with manufacturers representatives as well as outside sales. This in turn has a direct effect on quality which at times has been atrocious.

    Advice to Management

Hire more more people, the skeleton crew model does not cut it. This will allow for better communication with all stakeholders & improved quality.

I worked at Cooper Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice location. Departments kept to themselves, but were generally filled with nice people.

    Cons

Executives were a bit out of touch with reality, and push for outcomes that weren't possible. No bonus.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees if you trust them. If you don't trust them you have bigger issues.

I have been working at Cooper Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tons of hours and plenty of money. Definitely paid pretty decent.

    Cons

No time for a life. And unless you brownose your way around and get in good you'll never be picked for better jobs. If your great at your job then you'll never get away from it. Smart but a hinder to personal growth.

    Advice to Management

I can only say there are some really awesome people there that do a great job and then there are a bunch pompous fools that are completely out of touch with reality and have zero people skills.

    Pros

Great work environment with emphasis on teamwork, but they also trusted employees to work independently and accepted employee input on most issues.

    Cons

HR did not respond to my complaints about a departmental manager who was abusive and who treated me (and others) unfairly. It took many more complaints from other employees for the company to move him to another department.

    Advice to Management

Most employee complaints have some basis in fact and should be investigated and not ignored.
