I have been working at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time

    Pros

Large company with a small company feel. You get to really know a lot of people in different areas since cross functional work is very common here. Because of that, you get visibility to different managers and are able to form a broad career path that may not just be in your field of study which is nice for someone like me who would like to learn a lot of different areas instead of climb one ladder up.

    Cons

Pay is avg. for the area/positions

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent and be more visible around the office

I have been working at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall a decent place to work with less stress found at other companies. You are treated fairly and as a person, which is something that can't be found everywhere. Co-workers and managers for the most part are helpful and want to see you succeed.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are average. You won't get rich, but you'll earn a fair wage.

Company priorities are many, so getting resources or help can be a problem.

    Advice to Management

Connect with your people more to understanding the problems we face. We choose to work here and not elsewhere.

I have been working at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-The size. It's both small, yet large. You can have a variety of jobs here and move around to different areas and not just be a "number. "
-I truly feel like part of a work family
    -Great work/life balance
-I've had 3 excellent bosses during my time here
    -Solid company culture

    Cons

-Pay is average for the market/area
-Upper management (executive) level could be more personable

    Advice to Management

Learn who your employees are, what motivates them, and who your high potentials are and foster their development.

    Pros

Low pressure, nurturing corporate culture. You're given the opportunity to succeed on your own - it's not force fed to you. The focus is on the team, not the individual. This creates a laid back, non-competitive atmosphere.

    Cons

There are some very natural cons that go along with the pros that I listed. Things tend to move a little more slowly. The lack of individual accountability can be frustrating at times when it handicaps your own progress on things you're working on.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Cooper is making steady progress towards becoming a more modern workplace - stay on that track. Help those that are resisting that to understand that in order to stay competitive with young, up and coming talent, there is no choice.
