I worked at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good quality employees that care about their jobs. The shutdown at the Holidays were a plus. Had a lot of time off.

    Cons

Worked a lot of hours. They took a long time to replace people when they quit then you work even more hours! No days off during times. No quality of life! Base Salary to low.

    Advice to Management

Replace people quicker, Pay better- base salary. Take care of the employees that take care of you . Dont abuse them and make them do all the work.

I have been working at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overtime is available in abundance if you're willing to work it.

    Cons

They use the continental shift for 24 hr continuous production. Filthy environment to work with what I'm sure are health hazards. Many improvements need to be made, but change seems to be slow if any comes at all. Hiring and retention of new people is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Fill up the mill room so we don't run out of components.

I worked at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I liked my co-workers and enjoyed working with them. Working at a manufacturing plant was also interesting... getting to see the process and having tangible products. HR would try to spread the company's philosophies and beliefs.

    Cons

Frequently the decisions (by higher management) seemed to stand in the way of progress. Even after discussing pros and cons of a decision with my manger and other team members, we couldn't make (what we felt was) the right decision because we were overridden. It was very frustrating. Additionally, HR or management would frequently officially tell you things that were obviously not true (months later). It got to the point that you couldn't trust them.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time considering the impact of decisions.

    Pros

The people there are some of the finest to work with. (co, or Union)
The pride inmaking a great product.

    Cons

Upper management's way to turn employees on each other and create a hostile environment.
The treatment of the people after many sacrifices were made to keep cooper viable.

    Pros

With the Twelve hour, 2 2 3 schedule you get quite a few days off work. The money is good for those who have been there for over ten years but, new hires can make the same starting pay or just a bit less at a much less physical job.

    Cons

Your work is not appreciated by management because all they want to do is take away and give more job responsibilities for less money. They don't even try to make you feel appreciated. All you hear is you should just be happy you have a job. The co workers are the only positive,

    Advice to Management

Make your people happy. Try to fake the fact that you care. Remember it is on our backs that you get your bonus
