The company has is very big on putting in action several initiatives to continue the growth and to produce a better product. The company is also big on providing promotion opportunties in house before searching outside. So, overall it is a good company to grow with.

As long as they continue to put their people interest first and do all they can to make sure their employees have the resources needed to do their job, this would help to contribute to a harmonious workforce.

I worked at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No layoffs, decent pay, union . People are pleasant. Many opportunities for better jobs. Hire supervisors from the floor so you may advance in the workplace.

    Cons

New older employees do not have the opportunity to bid on better jobs. No one that hires in now will have the opportunity to make the money the senior employees make due to union contract changes,

    Advice to Management

Go back and make the contract right. a warehouseman can only make $13.25 an hour no matter how long they have been there under the current contract.

I have been working at Cooper Tire & Rubber full-time

    Pros

Relaxed, low-pressure work environment. Long hours are uncommon and rarely mandatory. Friendly, family-type corporate culture. Management cares about employee growth and development. Located in a low cost of living area.

    Cons

Small town location does not provide a lot of options for entertainment and social life outside of work. Management seems to be intent on maintaining a policy of "we pay less than average." Not a suitable culture for serious high achievers given pay and work ethic philosophy. Can be hard to get things done when everyone goes home at 5.

    Advice to Management

Get closer to pay parity to attract and retain high-performing people who can be change agents. Consider other policies that will improve retention.
