I worked at Copart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun and interesting work. Pays well.

    Cons

Management expects you to work lots and lots of OT. Not a very family friendly company. Need to hire more employee's instead of burning out the ones they have.

I worked at Copart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, stay work, transparent, good benefits and stock plan. Fun, fast paced environment with right managers in place. Get to touch lots of vehicles most would normally never have the chance. Auction is something to experience along with learning the insurance side.

    Cons

Forced overtime unscheduled(5:01pm load outs), difficult to move beyond loader or title/dispatcher, understaffed yards. Cannot purchase any auction vehicles, no post time work with anyone affiliated with copart. Limited in options to help customers, extreme safety rules(understandable but think there should be more emphasis of ability and not keeping the obvious unsafe operators on equipment before and after certain accidents) on loading and helping a customer load a destroyed vehicle. Company need to figure out how 180 different yards can with seamlessly together.

    Advice to Management

Gets too political from AGM up, un noticed potential in yards, lot of people in wrong positions, audits and measurements get impossible to achieve at some yards. Rid yards of the franchise mentality and have managers with a company wide mentality not yard wide. Think of what this customer will day about your yard when at other ones, good and bad. Let ones that are loyal to the company get shot at advancement, even high positions before hiring outside. Look to the repeat customers and sub haulers for their opinions on who at the yards are capable also.

I worked at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Always something to do. Busy and face paced work place. Always under the gun. They host one hell of a party for employees.

    Cons

Lack of proper training. No support from Regional Manager or other General Managers. Expected to know every aspect of your job plus everyone under you. Sent to GM training 8 months after taking the GM position. Was told that my performance was not acceptable 2 weeks after returning from GM training.

    Advice to Management

When hiring a GM train them right from the start. Set proper expectations and offer assistance to help them grow with the company. Unless you are a friend of someone in the "upper management" you do not stand a chance.

I worked at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for advancement if you're willing to move/relocate.
Employees are protected much more than management- which is actually a con to you if you're management- but great if you're a lazy employee who doesn't like being held accountable.

    Cons

Political. Work your A off- and don't get paid for it. You work hard, and long hours, and you are not compensated for that. Upper Executives receive bonuses and stock options that the people that are actually doing the work do not receive or see. Read the annual reports- good stuff to see just how much you're not making and how much more you should be appreciated than you are.

    Advice to Management

Change the pay scale- it's outdated and not competitive.

    Pros

Coworkers are a great group of guys, benefits are great, pay is alright

    Cons

Management differs from location to location but they need to be more involved in training and understanding the working of the yard on a day to day basis. Sometimes hostile work environment.

    Cons

Management does not take care of issues that are brought up by employees. Management will cover another managers behind even if they are clearly in the wrong.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when issues are brought up to you. At least act like you care.
