    I worked at Copart full-time

    Pros

Get to meet some interesting customers

    Cons

Management was very deceptive when it came to the interview. Promised a lot of things but delivered on none.
Did the work of an entire crew and was told that "people don't think that anything gets done" by me. (Ran a sub yard all by myself)
No team atmosphere, but a lot of back stabbing.
Office manager was a bully, as she'd yell and belittle office staff in front of customers and other employees.
Management does some very shady things like hiding vehicles for customers that were to be repossessed by a larger competitor auction for non payment, and then removing any race of them from the records.

    Advice to Management

Hire more competent and ethical leadership. Be open and honest to your employees. Remove the managers that bully people around.
Understand what your competition is doing. Stop treating your account reps like they are idiots. Just because you landed a big account doesn't mean that you can walk all over them

I worked at Copart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Few pros other than some decent co workers amd free parking

    Cons

Most toxic and back stabbing atmosphere in the IT area. You are told one thing by one higher up who leaves then somebody else comes through the revolving door and totally changes the course and information. No regards for employees and will hire and fire in a whim. IT management from top down to managers lie and will do whatever it takes to cover themselves. This company is a mess and even Human Resources is of no help whatsoever. Run away from this company there are too many other opportunities around

    Advice to Management

Clean house in IT all the way from the top tier down to managers. Not a single person tells the truth or holds to promises. Backstabbing is rampant and management is the biggest cause of this

I have been working at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for. excellent managers who lay their expectations out on the table. easy to follow directions. No sugar coating or misleading. Mon through Friday scheduled 8 to 5. A company that values family time. Vacation time after 90 days employment. average to above starting pay wage. High opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

For yard employees as myself there is a lot of time outdoors with no shade to hide from the sun, although you can come inside to take breaks from the sun. You are then put in the spot light by office employees once you enter the building... no outdoor bathroom so depend on how big the yard is you can be walking along way to use the bathroom. 1016's can become your worst nightmares.

    Advice to Management

Create a tent or some covering for the yard workers who are in the sun. Other than that continue to provide excellence.

I have been working at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - the opportunities available for IT to directly impact the business
    - engaged executives that listen to ideas to possibly drive business to the next level
    - fast paced environment (workload, CAT events, growth, outages - all at once)

    Cons

    - workload is high (may be specific to our team)
    - expectations for the deliverables are high (team specific)
    - work life balance is tilted too far on the work side

    Advice to Management

No changes in this area. Keep doing what you are doing! From our CEO down, you have an engaged C-Level team that is aware of our positive impact as well as our failure to deliver.
We learn, adjust, and improve along the way, as a team.
