I worked at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - My co-workers and the people you meet working at the Front Counter

    Cons

Someone else already posted this, but I'll just say the same:

"Overwhelming amount of work with unreal expectation of completion. They refuse to hire enough people. No sense of camaraderie. Training is miserably matched to the job. Not enough training and supervision, so when it all falls apart, you're screwed. Unless you're big into playing team sports, Management looks down on you."

    Advice to Management

Answer the phone, your employees are already doing most of the work.

I worked at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You have a job till you find a new job

    Cons

Do not join company if you are offered job under a lady manager in IT department. Because they are fickle minded, irresponsible, indecisive, bad at management, misinterprets communication, tries to play blame game by escaping their own responsibilities as a leader and hold their team member responsible for any sort of issue even if it is due to your leader not sharing information/deadlines/meeting outcomes with you. Lady Managers exploits company policy to fire employees. The strategy they use is reach out to project members with whom the employee haven't or least worked seeking NEGATIVE feedback ONLY against the employee. Upper management blindly trusts the managers, so whatever these ladies portrays to upper management is believed including fake or misrepresentation of facts or assumptions in their mind. This is not generalized on one instance but on multiple instances in company especially with BA & QA Lady managers. UTD students, CAUTION: Apart from development positions, there is no future for you in any other area in terms of learning or salary, so better don't try here. (Because almost all development teams are led by Male managers).
Be prepared to hear this for any of your suggestions or issues you raise "This is how Copart works". Company makes no effort to retain their employees, as they don't need to because they don't have critical work in terms or business or technology. Almost everyone in the company (IT department), except family guys are waiting and trying to switch company including Developers.

    Advice to Management

Change in policy is required as the managers are exploiting it for their own benefits

    Pros

Benefits, work hours, occasional provided lunch, family fun day

    Cons

Management sucks, they show racial favoritism and will fire you for no valid reason at all. Too many Indians and not enough chiefs, everyone likes to boss eachother around and bully you. Title unit is full of messy and trifling old bitter females that all talk about each other behind their backs, stressful and unsanitary, roaches falling from the ceiling, and rats in filing drawers, they pick on you for the most pettiest things and most of the time it's things that management gets away with, under paid and constant criticism and hr is hard to reach concerning issues....don't waste your time here, it's not worth the stress and headache!

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach, lead by example and maybe employees will follow, stop showing favoritism and open your eyes to what's really going on in the company

I worked at Copart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for advancement if you're willing to move/relocate.
Employees are protected much more than management- which is actually a con to you if you're management- but great if you're a lazy employee who doesn't like being held accountable.

    Cons

Political. Work your A off- and don't get paid for it. You work hard, and long hours, and you are not compensated for that. Upper Executives receive bonuses and stock options that the people that are actually doing the work do not receive or see. Read the annual reports- good stuff to see just how much you're not making and how much more you should be appreciated than you are.

    Advice to Management

Change the pay scale- it's outdated and not competitive.

I have been working at Copart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company supports celebrating the staff, I also like how they care about what I think. We have the ability to post our ideas / suggestions on an internal web site that all employees company wide can see and add comments if they wish.

    Cons

It takes a while to learn the operating system and processes, especially all the one off requirements from the sellers.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on the staff and looks for ways to improve our operating system.

    Pros

Overall it's a great company to work....Roy, great GM (atleast when I worked there)

    Cons

Can't think of any.....people tend to forget that this is a large company that places rules and regulations in place to cover all bases including employees....yes they have rules and regulations and not all are exciting but lets be real, this is a company that's in the market to make money and not entertain staff.....

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work

Coworkers are a great group of guys, benefits are great, pay is alright

Management differs from location to location but they need to be more involved in training and understanding the working of the yard on a day to day basis. Sometimes hostile work environment.
