    Pros

    Cons

Crazy hours around quarter and year end

I worked at Coperion full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good at luring people in with promises of a good working environment, positive attitudes. Turns out to be a false, though. Be careful

    Cons

Incompetence at its finest. Catty women running departments where their insecurities drive their decisions. Having left for greener pastures is how I realized that everyone who is employed there laughs at the German management team. Salina, Kansas should be closed, there’s not enough talent there to keep the company going. They don’t even have their own brand of equipment any longer. Poor management.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue.

I have been working at Coperion full-time

    Pros

Most of the people are easy to get along with.

    Cons

There is a great deal of favoritism in assigning shifts, jobs and advancement in the facility I work in.

    Pros

People are nice, helpful and professional. GM takes pride in the upkeep of facility and it shows.
Moving from Ramsey to Putman was not popular but makes good business sense in the long term planning.

    Cons

    No cons at this time.

    Advice to Management

Management should maintain open line of communication with ALL employees if concerned about company culture and environment.

    Pros

Large volume factory on basic items like screw elements. Shop is large enough to potentially make items like barrels in good price and quality.

    Cons

Low technical level, lack of any viable procedures/quality control and lack of experience of current crew is recipe for disaster for machine assembly of custom twin screw extruders. Chance are the refurbishing business which is also a built to order will suffer for the same reasons.. Lack of machine engineers on site and lack of engineering management skills will make this part of the business challenged for years to come

    Advice to Management

Stop being so distant from the real work. Talk to customers and employees. DO NOT USE outside agencies to tell you how you are doing. It would be interesting to do an episode of "Undercover Boss" in Wytheville. It would be a real eye opener

I have been working at Coperion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits...and some of the people. I truly can't come up anything else. It's under Hillenbrand, so maybe there is hope for the future.

    Cons

Everything!!! Management needs some serious training and coaching. There are no written processes or procedures in place. Management has no idea what is going on or how to run a department. People are given leadership positions; however, they have absolutely no idea what it means to lead.Hillenbrand needs to roll out major strategic procedures

    Advice to Management

Management overall or in depth training.

    I worked at Coperion full-time

    Pros

Was a great working environment years ago. Times changed though and even though the company was very profitable, upper management decided to move to Pitman, NJ and thereby lose a tremendous amount of talent.

    Cons

Too many egos trying to run the company causing unnecessary problems.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is totally out of touch with their people as other reviewers stated.

I worked at Coperion full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Variety of work yielding great exposure to various industries.
    Up to date computers.

    Cons

    Horrible management.
    Horrible building.
    Horrible chairs.
    Horrible cafeteria.
    Horrible HR - absolutely horrendous...
    Horrible outlook for the company.
    Terrible job security.
    Lack of fulfilling work.
    Lack of training.
    Lack of management taking responsibility.
Lack of common sense among upper management.

    Advice to Management

It's okay to say "oops, we've made a mistake to suggest we move to Pitman." Even the higher up that suggested it bailed out and quit the company.
Get to know your employees, they hate you because you treat them like moronic slaves.
Keep improving the work environment. I took some time off and came back only to find the entire place exactly how it was. Every little thing that was broken was still broken and every little annoyance still existed. NOTHING was fixed or improved, even the minuscule things that take no effort.
Be more flexible with the dress code. Even HR wears jeans on Mondays...
Be more flexible with time clocks, you all come in late constantly yet berate us when we are a minute late.
It's like Germany during WWII over there and what's shocking is that it's a small company and this type of environment belongs in a big company setting.

    Pros

The work is challenging and rewarding. Creating Machines for may varying customers adds variation and challenge to the job.

    Cons

The company was purchased by a large public company who has no experience in the sector. Management is clueless and has no idea what they are managing. There is no communication, very few procedures, issues are dealt with by pointing fingers and blame rather than solving the problem and making sure measures are in place to prevent recurrence.

    Advice to Management

Spend some effort to know what you don't know.......let people with experience guide your decisions. Stop trying to treat a duck like a chicken because you don't recognize the difference.

I have been working at Coperion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company culture has been better than average with most employees enjoying their work and environment. Very concerned for employee safety. Compensation for salaried people is far better than for hourly people. PTO is better than average company.

    Cons

Salary for most hourly employees is not up to par. Company gets a lot of bang for its buck. Upper management is out of touch with the inner goings on around the company. Many employees feel company is making a big mistake relocating its Ramsey headquarters to three different building across USA. Company is putting profits over people.

    Advice to Management

Should have spent more time thinking about breaking up a successful company. Company may not have realized that the majority of employees are not interested in re-locating. Instead of forcing a 3% 401k contribution on us they should have given out raises this year.
