I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have been working at CCC for over 5 years now. I started in Customer Service almost right out of college with no experience and a limited network. The Customer Service team trained me and allowed me to get a solid foundation in the business, and I was quickly recommended by the Customer Service Manager for a maternity leave coverage position in another team. The Director of that team recognized my potential (even when I didn't!) and offered me a full time position 6 months later; I have held a few different roles in the department ever since. I have the pleasure of working with a smart team of driven individuals doing interesting and varied work, which allows me to build the network, experience, and skills I need to succeed. CCC has some brilliant leadership with strategic vision informed by the market and their own employees' expertise, which they share openly at regular company meetings. It is a great place to work, and you are treated like a human being rather than a mindless corporate drone. The company really cares about its employees and goes above and beyond the call of duty when warranted. Tracey Armstrong is one of the most inspiring humans I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I know that in her hands, the company is on track for long-term success. I could go on, but here are some bullets:

    Great, welcoming, inclusive corporate culture
Interesting work that is always changing and consistently challenging
    Strategic vision
    Fantastic leadership
    Great pay & benefits
    Professional development strongly encouraged
    Career mobility within the company
Strong professional network to be leveraged
    Good work-life balance

    Cons

Not many! Information silos do tend to occur, so the company could focus on breaking down barriers and ensuring that the right information gets to the right people. Although the company is now global and most teams have the ability to work remotely at need, there is little opportunity to work at different sites if desired, so relocation to other sites upon request would be a great perk!

    Advice to Management

Management is wonderful and I have every confidence that they are taking this company where we want to go. Encourage more agency and independence for folks in non-management positions- this will boost efficiency and morale and provide better results overall. Invest equally across two primary markets. Do 360 degree evaluations for everyone in management to get a better sense of where there might be gaps and address them in a timely and transparent manner.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are bright, genuine and friendly. They show pride and earnestness working in this "do-the-right-thing" field (copyright).

Work-life balance is excellent, and it's set by example, not by mere lip service; people's "life" sides (hobbies, etc.) are openly celebrated.

There's a learning curve to be proud of scaling to the top of: copyright is complex, so you get a palpable sense of achievement each time you have a light-bulb "I get it" moment in your first months (or even years).

    Cons

Sometimes a little too much discussion and debate, which can cloud up possibilities for a clear and agreed path of action. But that's something found in a lot of human organizations! And ultimately the path of action breaks through.

    Advice to Management

Congratulations on such a positive work environment.

    Pros

Benefits. Its not cruel corporate environment. People are very nice in general. Great work life balance. Good place to get a pay check and bring up a family if you are not ambitious or care about career or work.

    Cons

Hiring process is terrible. The CEO doesn't realize that people only give her information like all is well. She doesn't try to go past the yes ma'am people. The idea that anyone can do any job. Pick one from data and put in qa to ba. project manager to product owner... instead of hiring 2 capable people 5 not so qualified are hired. The whole idea of killing the individual thought process will eventually make all smart people to leave if any are still left.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond your favorite 5 yes people and figure out why people are losing interest in last few years even after you spend so much to get people engaged.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I am a satellite employee for CCC in Indiana, and have been with CCC for a little over 6 months. I had to take maternity leave after only 4 months of employment, and they were incredibly understanding, supportive and helpful with the process of taking time off and managing my short term disability (which I was eligible for immediately after my first day). I even recieved a hand-written card congratulating me from the HR department AND the CEO of the company! The HR dept is very quick to reply with any issue you may have, from being locked out of your email to questions about pay. The benefits are amazing; affordable, inclusive and convenient. Their multi-cultural, progressive, client and employee focused atmosphere is a breath of fresh air in a time when corporations seem to be all about that bottom dollar!

    Cons

The only con I have experienced is; it's sometimes difficult to get technical support help.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * Great benefits
    * Lots of opportunitis to expand your knowledge and really take control of your career path
    * Great people to work with. It is a very collaborative environment
    * Executive management really does care about the wellness of their employees and works to help us maintain a sustainable work/life balance

    Cons

There isn't much to say that's negative, it really has been a great experience joining CCC! For me, the initial problem was location. When I joined CCC in March 2016 I lived in southeast Massachusetts, and the company is in Danvers on the North Shore. It was a 90-minute ride each way to work! Fortunately I was able to find a place in about 2 months and now I'm only 5 minutes from the building. Other people might be concerned that it's not in Boston, but the building is only about a quarter mile from route 95, and Boston is about 15 minutes away (except during the morning and evening commute of course)

    Advice to Management

Push your staff to continue learning and consider ways to break out of the old ways of thinking. Just because "this is the way we've always done it" doesn't mean it's the right way or the best way.

    Pros

I've only been with CCC since the start of 2017 - but I've been extremely impressed with my onboarding, training, meetings with peers, and overall enthusiasm from my colleagues. Acclimating to a new job is not always easy, and CCC does a great job of making you feel important and invested in starting on Day 1.

    Other pros include:
Great office location on the North Shore.
One of the best health care/benefits packages I've seen.
Tuition reimbursement (a huge bonus for me)

    Cons

If you're not up for a challenge, CCC isn't for you. It's fast paced, managers have high expectations and there are a lot of moving parts.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

CCC has a great reputation as a good employer, one that cares about its people, and that reputation is well deserved. I heard of this company from others in my community who either work here, or have applied here because they heard what a great company it is to work for. I started working here on a temporary basis in June of 2016, in a position that was not the one I originally interviewed for, but was made aware of by the Talent Acquisition Manager who recognized that I might have something else to offer. I was grateful to be offered that opportunity to work here, and I'm even more grateful now, having been hired into a permanent role after six months. In my time as a temporary employee, I spoke with many others who came here under similar circumstances. I believe it's a great way for both the company and the individual to determine whether there is a good fit. CCC is all about finding the right people for the right roles.

    Cons

There is not much that I can offer up here, especially being such a new employee, except to say that perhaps all the free coffee will ultimately not be a good thing for me, but that is more a matter of self control!

    Advice to Management

My advise would be to continue forging ahead with your business initiatives and remain at the top of your game. Continue to be the company that acquires other companies, because you have a great way of bringing people into the fold and building the organization

    Pros

Although limited in numbers, there are a handful of smart people working there, who gets it. The rest of them are pretty much there just to collect a paycheck and wait for retirement. It is a fun place to see how inept folks create unnecessary hurdles that only they can fix, to promote job security. It's a really great case study of a "Not for Profit" shop that burns as much cash as they can internally so they can justify the spend budget for the following year, but not making the right investments

    Cons

Myopic approach to the market. Risk adverse and tends to make poor investments decisons. If you're in operations and just want to collect a check, this is your place. If you are a Sales Professional seeking a challenge, this place will frustrate you. The sales units are so fragmented that you can have 3 people calling into the same person/account to sell the same products. Not a sales organization as folks in leadership tend to just rolls up numbers without a true strategy & expand their reach. Also, very very gender biased. If you are a male in the sales organization, don't get too comfy even though you may be hitting your goal. They have shown patterns of favoritism towards female workers who aren't as productive as their male counterparts. With all the investment they make, it appears as though they didn't invest any for sensitivity training. It was like a scene straight out of the movie "Friday". They laid someone (yes, a male) over the phone when he was out sick and packed up his desk for him. Many other examples, but who has time. They also heavily promote Work/Life Balance which they do.... depending on who you are.

    Advice to Management

To the Board. I strongly urge you to change up Executive Leadership team to get a fresh perspective and make more strategic investments, not just what they're used to. If you have to spend the cash anyways to remain Not For Profit status, spend those funds wisely
