I worked at CorVel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress (including jeans) permitted on Fridays.

    Break room is nice.

    Cons

Some CorVel managers use staffing agencies to find workers and then abuse the “temp-to-hire” system by doing everything possible (including lying during the interview process) to keep the worker on a temporary basis instead of actually hiring them (thereby denying the worker any benefits). If you are coming from a staffing agency, do not expect to be hired permanently, no matter what you are told.

“Temp-to-hire” workers are not considered part of the team, and are deliberately excluded from departmental activities like Christmas dinners and holiday activities.

Managers are threatened by any signs of intelligence, quick learning or independent thinking from their employees. Proactive attempts to work more efficiently are punished, not rewarded. Managers will go out of their way to decide that if an employee is capable of working independently, the employee must have made some mistakes, even if there are no mistakes to be found.

Micro-managing is rampant. Supervisors routinely treat their employees in a rude, condescending manner, and will blame employees for mistakes that were actually made by the supervisor. The combination of paranoid, impossible-to-please managers and tedious, nose-to-the-grindstone tasks results in an extremely stressful work environment.

The office is deathly quiet. Managers discourage face-to-face interactions by expecting employees to use Skype/IM, even when the manager or co-worker is only a few steps away from the employee’s cubicle. Employees are deskbound and have little opportunity for physical activity other than during lunch or short walks to the restroom.

Opportunities for upward advancement are pretty much nonexistent. (Management is at least up-front about this.)

    Advice to Management

CorVel managers already believe they know everything and do not welcome employee input. Offering advice to management would be an exercise in futility.

    Pros

    I really don't have any.

    Cons

This was one of the worst jobs and companies to work for. CorVel has a reputation within the health industry and unless you want your name tarnished with this company, I suggest you look for work elsewhere.

    Pros

none,. The manangement is all new and not knowledgeable. Favorites are picked. Once you get in the door they tack on other tasks and accounts that you were not told you would be handling.Revolving door of employees, leaving there mess for the new adjusters to pick up and clean up immediately.

    Cons

manangement is not knowlegable. Pay is terrible. Promise to take care of their employees and they do not have your back

    Advice to Management

Read a book on Manangement and retaining good employees. Pay them fairly. Get attractive benefits package and stop micro managing the employees that do not need that direction,

I worked at CorVel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can work from home; flexible(ish) hours of as long as you start between 7 and 9 and work 8 hours. The people used to be very friendly.

    Cons

You can work from home because you'll always be working. The caseload is almost impossible, and if you work hard and put in the extra hours they'll just give you more work. They promise training but this is non-existent, and when you ask for help just expect to get yelled at. Then while you're overworked and under-trained you'll start making mistakes, so they can justify their mediocre salaries and disallow you to work from home, even though you should be getting serious OT just to keep up. And even if you work hard and can keep up, just remember you're halving your salary working 80 hr weeks, which only get worse with promotions. Management doesn't listen as they've been told these things over and over, and instead prefer to act blameless and talk down to employees.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to clean house. Establish an actual training plan and don't lie to employees just to hire them, and stop being so cheap and get actual talent. If overtime is mandatory, pay it.
